Safe to assume their top three forwards are first Celebrini and then Lindstrom/Demidov in some order. No idea who they would pick next after that, whether it's Eiserman, Helenius, Catton or even someone else like Iginla.

If I had to guess they have Helenius next. I think if Catton cleans up his D zone issues he rises to 4th.

Really hope we win the lottery. I'd be fine with a top six of slaf-nick-cole and celebrini-dach-someone better than Newhook.

I don't think people are excited enough about landing Catton. He's 100% gonna be available when they pick and I like him better than Smith who everyone here was praying would fall to 5th last year. I see him as a 90+ point player at his peak and ppg in his prime.

He's definitely way more rounded than Cooley and Smith. Similar talent level.

Don't think so, Cooley and Smith have a better top end offensively (even Leonard), but Catton is more 2 way.

Generally, 2-ways lead to more winning but fewer points.

Bit too much liking the last shiny thing here guys...

The pick would obviously be Lindstrom. He brings the size that Bobrov covets and the scoring the Habs need. He also has a lot of room to refine his game, which I think the Habs will want (like Slaf).

I don't think anything is remotely obvious after Celebrini.

I think Demidov could very well be their selection as well as a few others, especially if they are open to drafting a dman. Lindstrom does make some sense but he is not the only one at that the Canadiens will be strongly considering.

I do believe that Lindstrom could possibly be a trap as he is much bigger and faster than his peers and there have been alot of those types who could never repeat their success at the NHL level when these advantages are greatly minimized. I really like Demidov and Catton because they have superior puck skills to Lindstrom as well as higher IQ's imo.

This is not to suggest that I don't like Lindstrom but just to point out that there is alot more risk than some are assigning to this player.

I agree that Smith has a higher top end offensively and Cooley is more creative offensively. The issue with Smith is that he doesn't try to get inside enough, that isn't as big of an issue for Cooley but he is smaller.

I wouldn't have had Catton as a similar talent level prior to the year but the development on his shot and his confidence with the puck have sky rocketed.

Regardless he will play at 5'11 and around 190 lbs which is more than enough for an NHLer and isn't small to me at all. He plays defensively and an inside game offensively.

BTW he's likely going to smash Savoies D year point production on a worse team, while being bigger and more effective in all zones, oh he's actually going to smash his D+1 production.

5-7 I don't think they are going that direction, Demidov or Lindstrom is their target.

If those guys are off the board, I think they'd prefer Catton to any other forward in the draft. I could be projecting, maybe they lean Helenius, but he doesn't have the raw skills and talent that Catton has.

If we do trade for Zegras, we can forget another smallish forward. So you can forget Catton, Demidov etc. Wouldn’t be surprise to see us pick Iginla or reach for MBN if thats the case.

Yeah, staying healthy has virtues.

Every time I watch Catton I realize how bad that Spokane team is. His linemates are okay, definitely driven by Catton though. The rest of the team... oof. That defense especially is terrible and it's really something to witness how they can't get the puck out of their zone (meaning Catton has to support every time). If you want one shift to represent him, look no further

(7:45 to 8:30)

- D-zone support
- Transition and zone entry (should've lead to a chance)
- Pass to point for shot
- Pick the puck off the wall with smooth hands in tight for a pass to slot
- Back-check and close off attacker in the neutral zone
- Slick set up in front of the net for the assist.

How much gas does this kid have in the tank?!?!?

The only thing I'm not too crazy about with Catton is the size not matching his style TBH, everything else is real projectable. There's a non zero chance that the complete game doesn't work at the next level because he's getting outmuscled though, so I'd still be a bit worried. Every prospect has question marks, obviously, it's just part of the analysis I'd make. Still, I love how dedicated he is to every aspects of the game, he's really involved in all three zones, you can tell he's a true gamer.
