OT: 2024 NFL/NCAA/HS Football Thread

I will NOT be watching the Super Bowl which contains two of the three (New England being the other) I hate the post. I have a sense that most of the general public is not going to be very excited about this rematch. In many circles, it’s antagonist vs antagonist so who gives a sh**?!

Here are my thoughts after having a day to recover. The Bills didn't deserve to win. If you want to beat the Chiefs, you need to play a perfect game. The Bills played a perfect game in the regular season, they did not play a perfect game last night. Last night was an effort that was good, good enough to beat any other team in the league. But not good enough for to beat KC.

At halftime I felt like the Bills were getting BADLY outplayed and that it was a minor miracle that we had a one score game. I thought that if the Bills got one stop on defense they would win. They got a couple of stops but the offense sputtered at the worst time. BUF has prided themselves on in-game adjustments all year, but KC out-adjusted them. Bills were the 2nd best at 4th down conversions this year, it has just been automatic with Josh. But KC stopped them just about every time. I just can't say enough about Spagnuolo what a genius he is on that side of the ball.

Most disappointed in the offense in the 2nd half, particularly the play calling. I understand going for it on 4th down every time, that was correct. But continuing to call the same QB sneak over and over again after they've clearly shown they know it's coming? Not nearly enough James Cook in the 2nd half, although I wonder if he was dealing with something as he didn't look quite right on the sideline. Kincaid picked a hell of a time to have his worst game as a pro, he's supposed to be the hands guy and Josh's safety valve and had two enormous drops. I know Keon Coleman is a rookie but he's still got a lot of growing to do. Bills still need to add a WR and Amari Cooper isn't going to cut it. Imagine if they had traded up to get Brian Thomas Jr., he would have been the guy. Cut Stone Hands Knox and his 10M salary and use that money to go get someone who can actually catch and run.

I feel like more than a Pat Mahomes legacy game this was really a Chris Jones legacy game. That guy is a machine and doesn't get talked about nearly as much as he should. He is all-time special, he should be talked about the same way that people talk about Aaron Donald.

Defensively - it was all downhill after Kaiir Elam went in. What a horrendous waste of a 1st round pick. Failed to get pressure with 4 pretty much all night. The Bills need to add at least one new starter to every level of the defense. Cut Von Miller's old ass and get a new DE, they need an emergency LB because Milano is made out of glass and will probably never be the same, and they need a new CB to replace Douglas AND a new S to get Hamlin back to where he belongs as #3. I really liked what I saw from Cole Bishop and Terrell Bernard is a f***ing baller. Some good things from the young talent on that side of the ball but the vets need to be fumigated.

Regarding the officiating - it didn't decide the game. The bad spot on 4th down was atrocious, you have two officials who see two different things and two different spots, and even with replay they can't get the call right. The challenge at the end of the 2nd half was bogus too, although it ultimately didn't matter because of the penalty. But if the ball hit the ground, it's not a catch. If the ball doesn't hit the ground and it IS a catch, then, well, the only person who clearly has possession is the defender and it's an interception. Worthy didn't get possession until after the ball hit the ground. Completion is the only incorrect call in that situation.

i love when people wear fan gear in public.

was at the grocery store and a teen kid was out with his mother, he was wearing a bills tuque and i just couldn't help myself so i said in fun,

"hey, your bills really choked another season away last night huh" he chucked and smiled. at the same time it got an older man in his 60s to laugh who was wearing a leafs hat. to which i said, "what the hell you laughing about? the leafs are next"

two chirps for the price of one
