Shaq's just being Shaq.
You know it's not the best player award; it's the player most valuable to their team. After Jokic and SGA who are the next best players on both teams? I would say Murray and Gordon before anyone on OKC. Replace SGA with a regular guard and OKC doesn't make the playoffs.

Well, Chet Holmgren's VORP and WS/48 are better than anyone's on the Nuggets not named Jokic.

And there's also the additional fact that Jokic is like miles better than SGA. By every metric.

Jokic is unreal and so enjoyable to watch
GOAT offensive player imo

Wolves have the best defense and the DPOY and they threw everything at him, and he dominated them with amazing efficiency

Pacers are slow lazy and stupid. The east is just plain bad.
I wanted to enjoy this rekindled 90s rivalry but the Pacers are so frustrating that I won't probably watch the rest of the series, at least game 6
Might watch game 7 (if there is a game 7)

Gotta blame somebody, blame the 4 time defensive player of the year.
Seriously if the DPOY can't stop Jokic nobody can
Maybe did have 5 blocks on him but it was a regular season game and Joker still had a good game

Has Draymond ever put the clamps on Joker?
I would like to see the media people trying to guard him

I'd give KG the best odds. He had the combo of strength and speed you'd need to stick with Jokic inside and out. And his intensity would be something Jokic hasn't seen before
I agree on most of the attributes' listed but Jokic can still bully ball him

Listening to Ian Eagle hurts my brain.
Never heard of him until I saw your post

I was wondering today.. who could shutdown Jokic? Hakeem? Prime Dwight? Garnett? Anyone else? Who would give him the most issues?
No one shuts down great players. Joker, Embiid, KD, Steph, LeBron... you don't shut down players like that. But there have certainly been great defenders in the past who would give him a tough time... Wilt, Russell, Walton, Mutombo, Ewing, Robinson, Duncan... they don't stop him (and he doesn't stop them either) but they make his life tougher.

dwight gave him issues in the '20 WCF, but jokic also wasn't getting the same calls he gets today and has improved quite a bit as a player since then

malone played great defense on prime KG and duncan on one leg in 04, so he'd probably do a good job defending jokic

i don't think there's anyone historically who could actually shut him down though

Jokic really is the most ridiculous basketball player I've ever seen. He's got the athleticism of a Zombie or a titan from "Attack on Titan" and he is completely unstoppable

ESPN really needs to adjust the sound levels on their broadcast. With all the crowd noise I can't make out anything the announcers are saying.
