I think Parekh was a good example of player who would benefit being in the AHL at his age. Not much for him in junior aside from some fundamentals and such..

I'm thinking Tuesday will be a big day for cuts. I'm guessing a total of 10 cuts and guys placed on waivers...

Ignatjew, Cooley (W), Kuznetsov, Brzustewicz, Kirkland, Frk, Hunt (W), Rooney (W), Duehr (W), Schwindt (W) are my guesses.

Still hoping that they just let Barrie go..

Not me. They will sign Barrie to a one year deal I'm guessing. He will be a true pump and dump candidate.
Signing Barrie doesn’t make sense at all, signing Barrie is a classic Treliving, the Flames are contenders type move. To “pump” him they need to give him power play time which takes time away from Weegar, Anderson and Miromanov. And once suitably pumped he still won’t get more than a 3rd or 4th in a trade.

IMO, Barrie makes perfect sense if he's willing to do what Stone did in his later years. Press box 7th D who can jump into the lineup cold and also be one of the first guys called up on a road trip for injury replacements. IMO, we'd be very lucky if he agrees to something like that.

Reserve the cup of coffee stuff for the kids when we're playing home games.

But the question is why would Barrie agree to that? Unless he wants specifically to play only for 4 specific teams so that he can quickly go to Victoria on a regular basis for family or personal reasons or something and also willing to temporarily be traded at the TDL for that opportunity?

If he's not blocking young guys from getting experience, that's a free draft pick.

I was probably just weird when I played floor hockey... But I've always believed that if a player could dominate lower levels like that, asking them to add a dimension to their game and continue dominating those lower levels with that dimension has always been a training method worth pursuing. I've seen it in other sports like soccer and racquet sports before.

Parekh is elite, so IMO, I'd ask him to add a minor dimension to his game that he hasn't shown much of so far. Something like working on boxing players out and a little more physicality (not outright hits, but not shying away from contact and working on his play/shots/passes when there's contact). That way he doesn't kinda just get surprised when the game is faster than preseason and players are more up front and in your face on a regular basis.

Heck, even when I played floor, I used to swap between LHS and RHS depending on the opponent/casual game. I found it helped me read plays better and that movement also helped me recover from awkward positioning, improved momentum shifts etc. better. If I were to suggest things to certain players, I'd recommend they try the wrong handed stick when playing vs kids and stuff. It kinda helps to view your basic fundamentals from a new angle and understand their importance and other ways to utilize them. Similar to teaching yourself to play a racquet sport with your other hand, I kinda found I was a little less paralyzed on certain trick plays, especially badminton.

Nothing like super amplifying defensive play in exchange for his offense or something like that... but again, like I said. I'm a little weird.

I love Conroy, but I hate him right now. If Solo gets claimed, OKG & Byron are going to feel like a fairytale when I lose my shit and burn villages

Hopefully Solovyov gets lost in the waivers crowd and makes it through.

So what’s the plan for D.Hunt?

Is he going to get waived before season starts also?
I expect so. I just don't think there is room for him on the Flames plus being 28 and will turn 29 in November i just don't think he fits into the Flames future plans.

f***ing stupid, he's been better than Tinordi, Hanley & Bean IMO

I think one of Tinordi or Hanley is next TBH. Solo on the other hand I wonder if the Flames want him to temporarily work on being the best on the Wranglers to see if they can upgrade him to a second pairing NHL option.

I think other teams may hesitate for someone with a slightly higher minors salary, and he's a LD defensive D option which other teams might not be looking at. If successful in upgrading Solo, I think the gamble is worth it. Losing Solo though I agree would not be great even if we have other guys of him style we are working on.
