Flames play Seattle tonight, and then have our annual split squad games w/ the Oilers tomorrow

I suspect we see our first cuts Tuesday

Excited to see the mental gymnastics management does to justify Cooley is better than Wolf after they play Wolf with the rookie squad, while Cooley plays against the other teams rookies.

Checks out, our first cuts are usually after the split squad. Need to be able to field 2 teams until then
exactly, I'm no genius, it's just that obvious

I assumed Cooley is technically against Vladar, not Wolf. Wolf has direct competitor for a role right now IMO. Only if both Cooley and Vladar blow past him will he have concern on his position.

I sure hope so. I feel like Wolf might sour on the organization if we keep Cooley up because he’s waiver eligible.
I don’t mind Cooley as a 3rd/4th stringer but he’s just never really had any success as a pro to this point. Not really encouraging for a 27 year old.

I think I read an article somewhere that Cooley and Wolf know each other and are buddies. Wolf says he keeps tabs on goalies from Cali and wants to work together with them to show a new breed of high calibre California goalies or something like that.

Even if Cooley stays up, I assume management will discuss it well and Wolf will know where he stands and that he likely will get a promotion next year. IIRC, Cooley and Wolf's contracts are very similar. Cooley backing up to Vladar also might not be a bad thing as Vladar and Cooley's games are surprisingly similar IIRC. I don't think Wolf would be upset if he was relegated to injury replacement before he is told he should in theory get a permanent position by TDL or next season if he keeps his performance up.

Neither has Wolf
He won went 7-7 last year on a team that lost basically every game he didn’t play in after the deadline. What do you consider success? Clearly AHL numbers, where he outperformed Cooley by over .030, don’t matter either.

Either get drafted in the first round, or you can never do anything to prove yourself.
