MBN didn't look out of place the World Championship. In a game just before the WC, he netted all four goals for Norway against Denmark.

I am not saying he is ready now, but he isn't far off.

Edvinsson isn't even eligible for the Calder anymore

calling him a prospect is like saying Seider should win the Vezina

The Calder having arbitrary, partly non-sensical parameters doesn’t have anything to say about where an individual player is in his development.

If we want to appeal to authorities, this HF site, when they did prospect evaluations, put the cutoff at 65 NHL games.

Edvinsson is still very much a prospect, given where he’s at in his development.

Sure, but why do we even need him in the poll? If he's included, he's clearly number one. Just pretend that we're starting voting at 2.

Celebrini is on the Wings? What are you even trying to say dude?
You said Edvinsson is no longer a prospect because he's got a spot on the Wings and won't play another game in the AHL. By that logic, Celebrini would no longer be a prospect since he's going to be suiting up for the Sharks in October and will be in the NHL going forward.

But someone who was drafted 2 days ago not being considered a prospect seems a bit silly. A player ceases to be a prospect once they've established themselves in the NHL. That will presumably happen for Edvinsson this coming season. But seeing as it hasn't happened yet, Edvinsson should still be considered a prospect.

I don’t recall excluding Seider in polls when we knew for sure he was #1.

I guess for me it’s more about the overall sloppiness in execution of these polls. It’s just one thing after another with these Henkka-organized polls lol.

Couple notes on these prospect votes:

1) We should have one prospect vote every year after the draft. No idea why we started one two months before the draft when the results would be obsolete almost immediately.

2) The criteria are whack if Edvinsson isn't considered a prospect. He's 21 years old and has only played short-term call-ups totalling 25 games over 2 seasons. Until such time as a player either establishes themselves as an NHL regular, or fizzles out into lower leagues, they should be considered a prospect. In terms of a hard age cutoff, we should just mirror the Calder trophy rules at 26 or 27 years old.

Yeah. Someone suggested doing it after the development camp, which is in what? A couple weeks? The development camp probably won’t impact how we rank our top prospects, so starting the polls around the week after the draft seems appropriate.

For reference, here’s the criteria HF used back when they rated prospects:
A player will be considered a prospect until he meets the following criteria:

If a prospect is a skater (forward, defenseman) and has played in 65 NHL games or more before the completion of the season of his 24th birthday; or, if a goaltender has played in 45 NHL games before the completion of the season of his 24th birthday, that player will be considered graduated to the NHL. Conversely, if a player completes the season of his 24th birthday without passing those milestones, then that player will no longer be considered a prospect by Hockey’s Future, regardless of the player’s status with his NHL club.
That criteria seems as good as I’ve seen.
