The ECHL announced on Monday that the League’s Board of Governors has approved the Transfer of Controlling Interest in the Maine Mariners’ Membership from Comcast Spectacor to Dexter Paine.

New rules and more

A 3-Day Injured Reserve spot has been added, in addition to the 14-Day Injured Reserve and the two Reserve spots. One Player can be placed on 3-Day Injured Reserve at any one time while an unlimited number of players can be placed on 14-Day Injured Reserve.

Interesting idea. NHL has 7-day IR and 10+ game LTIR. But nothing this short term. Wonder if it might be something the NHL might consider down the road. (However, the ECHL has a fairly limited not-dressed roster space, so this might help with that.)

The specific rule changes look like they are just including some of the NHL rules changes (delay of game for goalie pushing net out of position).
