As to tge disappointment that Reichel seems not to be unable to translate the talent that made Hawks draft home aat#17 in2020,imagine if instead they went agaibst the rankibg system and took JJPetrrkka instead..You woukd be so hapoy because he has proven to ve anNHL player already...

Remember at that draft Hawks were said to gave reached on Reichel who the "consensus" still had as first rounders but ranked by most in the mid 20s...Meanwhile Peterkka went to Buffalo as a 2ns rounder..

Obviously we picked the wrong g German.
But Hawjs kive the fast skatibg "artistes"..trouble us they either cannot scoreor are terrible indecendi g ..or worse...terrible at Both!

Do not know what has gone off the ranks for Reichel ...but both the eye test and the stats so far are tilting towards bust ..It sticks whe any first rounder floos..but more so when tge puck still is in the mid-first..

I think they give him 1 more season (2024/25) and if he still has not shown he deserves to be on the Hawks squad, they should then cut bait.

No matter how much you change roster over we still have Richardson behind bench so expecting improvement seems a reach

Hawks need to move on from Richardson mistake
Agree 100%. There are coaches that somehow get talent-light teams to compete. That's not Lu-Rich. If you know you're light on talent - you know you HAVE to have good team defensive coverage, and from watching the game last night it was like the Hawks had never played together. Last year, I probably gave LR too much lee-way because the roster was so bad. This year's roster shouldn't be embarrassingly bad like last year, but unless something fundamentally changes with compete and coverage, I think it's more of the same falling back on how many points that Mrazek can steal.

From ice hogs page:

Rockford, Ill.-A brief two-game preseason slate opened on Wednesday morning for the Rockford IceHogs and the Hogs knocked off the Iowa Wild 4-3 in front 4,844 fans at the BMO Center during the team’s annual school day game.

Tied 3-3 midway through the third period, defenseman Ethan Del Mastro poked a loose puck sitting on the goal line into the Iowa net at 11:24 on a power play for the game-deciding goal. Goalie Mitchell Weeks made 27 saves for the IceHogs to earn the win.

Rockford and Iowa will conclude their preseason slate on Thursday with a rematch in Coralville, Iowa at 7 p.m. The IceHogs open the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 12 against the Grand Rapids Griffins at the BMO Center.

After falling behind 1-0 midway through the first period, the IceHogs tied the contest before the first intermission when Frank Nazar shelved a Brett Seney cross-ice feed over Wild goalie Kyle McClellen at 19:09 of the opening period.

Ryder Rolston opened the second-period scoring when he finished off a two-on-one breakaway with Marcel Marcel 2:45 into the middle stanza. After Iowa tied the game 2-2 with a marker from Matthew Sop at 3:58, Rockford winger Matus Spodniak knocked in a rebound from a point shot from Austin Strand at 5:44 to make it 3-2.

Sop tied the game back up at 3-3 at 17:44 of the second when he beat Mitchell Weeks blocker side after a Rockford turnover in their own zone.

Nazar (1g-1a), Spodniak (1g-1a) and Landon Slaggert (2a) all finished with multi-point games for Rockford while the Hogs power play finished the day 1-3 and held Iowa off the board on all three of their power-play opportunities.

Opening Night - Saturday, Oct. 12

The IceHogs take on the Grand Rapids Griffins at 7 p.m. to kick off the 2024-25 season on Saturday, Oct. 12. Come early for the block party starting at 4 p.m. featuring the Trippin Billines and see our reigning MVP, fan favorites and more take the BMO Center ice for the first time this season. But honestly...can you reallexpect better defendibg from$9.5 and Connor Barfy as your "reliable" d vets...you hope Martinez and Bridie still gavevenough intye tank to be "average" defenders..but the age clock is tilting agaibst them and it is a long 82 game season.

D looks like
Martinez Jones
Vlasic Brodie
Kaiser Murphy

Allan or Phillips is 7th d...The left side is ok..but that right side D is a guarantee of another bottom 5 finish...especially because our forwards cannot help them our mich ..

Decided to listen to Richardson explain the Nazar/Korch thing. I really have not listened to him much, man is he a stiff. Talk about a cure for insomnia, he needs to go sooner rather than later.

With Reichel - can someone explain what happened? I know it was a small sample size - but he had a great stretch late in 2022 and he has just flatlined after that. You can correctly say that 2022 was garbage time on a bad team - but all of last year was garbage time on a bad team as well. I don't think this is a "skill" issue where he doesn't have the ability to be a scoring line forward, which makes it a "will" issue. I just don't understand how a guy who has the opportunity he does to be such a train wreck on the ice.
Reichel has been good or close to that when he has played with Athanasiou. Could the answer be to get little smarter high speed center.

Didn't want to say it but I was one of five or six people at the Tom Kurver showcase practice session and Nazar blew off the three people looking for an auto - I wasn't one of them...too old for that. Dach went out of his way to hook people up and talk a bit.

Man that rubbed me wrong...

People have lives outside of their jobs. It's a plus if they can but it's not a negative if they can't.

I saw KBIB at a grocery store in Detroit yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person off stream, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.

He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”

I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off.

You know the rest etc
