This is your chance to post what picks you would have made if you were calling the shots at the draft table. You can change as many of the picks as you'd like or as few. If you'd like to see previous years here are links to the 2023 thread, the 2022 thread, and the 2021 thread.

The Wings picked at:

15:
47:
80:
126:
144:
176:
203:
208:

If you've been doing these the last few years post your combined prospect pool to see how you've done relative to the Wings.

This would have been a tough call. As much as I like MBN I think I'm going to go in a different direction.

15: Michael Hage, C
47: Nikita Artamonov, W
80: Luca Marrelli, D
126: Louka Cloutier, G
144: Anthony Romani, W
176: Jakub Fibigr, D
203: Mac Swanson, W
208: Darels Uljanskis, D

* 203 was originally Alexander Zetterberg because I had thought Mac Swanson was drafted. Updated the pick to Mac once I realized he was not selected.

My main complaint about the past Wings drafts is that they've lacked skill. I think The MBN and Plante selections were steps in the right direction, but I'd have liked to see the trend continue throughout the draft.

Here are all of my other drafts. Beginning in 2020 I moved to a model approach and in 2022 I began to use the latest version. I think the 2020 & 2023 drafts are the best of the bunch and should produce a couple of NHLers. 2021 will haunt me because I had Stankoven one spot behind Raty due to outside influence. A draft of Eklund, Wallstedt, and Stankoven would've been killer.

A strikethrough on a name is someone that I would no longer consider to have a chance at the NHL, if someone is bolded they're NHLers, and italics means they're still developing

For fun and for future reference, my picks based on my list (that I've done myself by watching these players, no draft guide influence):

1 (15). Michael Hage
2 (47). Teddy Stiga
3 (80). Luca Marrelli
4 (126). Brayden Edwards
5 (144). Fyodor Avramov
6 (176). Christian Humphreys
7 (203). Mitja Jokinen
7 (208). Ryerson Leenders

As for the draft itself, I support the MBN, Plante, Whipple and Forslund picks. Becher I wasn't a big fan watching him but the production doesn't lie. Baker wasn't a USNTDP guy I liked that much but he's alright. Scott and Miller I have no clue. Overall, I prefer this draft to last year's draft.

My favourite draft is probably Carolina. I know they are the internet's answer seemingly every year, but I usually don't really buy the hype of their drafts as I think they do alright in term of value but they don't target guys I usually am crazy about, and I don't know... the results aren't necessarily overwhelmingly efficient when looking back... but this year though, oh boy... 6 players who were in my personal top 70 with names like Siryatsky and Avramov that whom I am a big fan of. Time will tell, and I'll most likely look stupid when looking back!

I don't know enough about the 2024 class to do a whole draft, but it's alarming to look at the 2023 thread and see a lot of drafts better than Draper's

My depth of review of the picks goes no further. I liked Greentree but Eiserman was consistently ranked ahead of MBN.

Artamonov appears to be the steal of the draft. I don't have a huge issue with MBN but I dislike the Plante pick.

Seriously, this is not the place for that debate. Also, 2023 is all of a year old. Call back in three more.

15. Eiserman
47. John Mustard
80. Fernstrom (honestly I think I prefer Becher now that I've looked into him, but I didn't know pre-draft).
126. Zetterberg (I realize that I could grab him with a 7th, but I wouldn't have known that on the floor)
144. Misa
Don't know anything beyond that.

I was going to create a separate thread to do an "alternative universe" scenario where you compile all the picks from our past threads, but if you want to just do that here we can do that too.

I'll have to go through and try to consolidate all mine, I think we actually have threads going back to like 2016 or so.

Unless I am missing something, he went undrafted.

I will take part since I love the draft and enjoying commenting on the Wings board from time to time. My very amateur personal rankings is just a top 100, and my weak spot of knowledge is European leagues, especially depth (where Hakan cleans up):

15: Cole Eiserman (W)
47: Nikita Artamonov (W)
80: Christian Humphreys (C)
126: Alexander Zetterberg (C)
144: Luke Misa (C)
176: Mac Swanson (W)
203: Tomas Galvas (D)
208: Jan Kavan (G)
