Seattle is lacking in pass catching TE.

Andrews is nearing the end of his time in Bal. They have Likely whom they will extend and ultimately take Andrews cap hit moving forward. Whether that is in 2025 or 2026. Both have 1 year left on their contracts.

Both guys were day 3 picks, so Bal knows how to find TEs later in the draft.

Funny story about Mark Andrews, the Ravens used a first round pick that year on a TE named Hayden Hurst. Took them the third round to find Andrews and he took position of that spot til this day

I don’t know how Andrews comes back from this man

he'll be back. as horrific as his performance was, kicking a guy (who is a franchise great nonetheless) to the curb because of a bad game with a year still left on his contract still wouldn't be a good look for any franchise

but i envision a diminished role next season and likely taking over TE1 duties

Same draft as Lamar. Hurst was an older player IIRC. Like 24/25 coming out of college. Think they had him for 2 seasons before sending him off to ATL? for a pick. Hurst and a 4th for a 2nd and 5th from ATL. Andrews was regarded as a pass catcher. Not as much a blocker. Now, TE's don't need to be that good at blocking coming out. Teams will draft someone on day 3 to do that role.

Andrews is due $11 mill or something in real money for 2025, not guaranteed. So, Bal has to decide if he's worth that money to return. Cap hit would be $17 mill thus $6 mill in dead money if they move on.

hurst was a solid TE but andrews was the better pass catcher and they had nick boyle who was better as a blocker. so he really didn't get as much usage in his two seasons with the ravens and eventually demanded a trade because he wanted to be the TE1 elsewhere. sort of the same reason why hollywood brown wanted out
