"Won't someone PLEASE think of the CHILDREN?!!!"

Ottawa hockey media and their “Dave Cameron is an idiot” takes make the fanbase look petty and stupid. Canada is 1-0-1 and people think Dave Cameron has an agenda against the Senators - they are just making themselves look stupid but at the same time it reflects poorly on the fans because their takes are so bad they just want something to say when there no NHL hockey. Feels small to me to go after Junior players and a former coach like this but everyone is entitled to look as stupid as they want I guess

One of hockey Intellegencia called it “Horrific” and that wasn’t even the 150th worst take I saw.

The WJC is circling the drain because people run at a team of teenagers because they think they are smart when they are just 60 year old men who are idiots

He does have holes in his game, he’s never been a + player in Junior and that’s not a reason to freak out, it’s just the truth. He wasn’t picked because his defensive game wasn’t good enough, that’s the reason.

These are 17, 18 and 19 year olds. All of these players have holes in their game. There’s not a “complete player” in the bunch. They all have strengths and flaws.

The brass picking the team just has to decide which “holes” they find acceptable.

This year, they took a lot of players who have holes in their offensive game instead of defensive game and put them on a team with as average and risk averse a coach that you can find.

Last night that showed, and my guess is they’ll struggle to score all tournament. Probably another early exit.

Ottawa media comments reflect the media not the fans; fans make their own comments.

I agree that this isn’t something to lose one’s shit over, I understand your perspective, and agree that people on social media can get extremely negative and down right mean about this, and every other subject.

But I’m not really seeing that in this thread by members of our board, that’s all I’m saying.

As far as Brady goes, I don’t need to check your posts. If you were stoked at the pick that’s great, so was I. I’m not going to look it up because why would you lie, and why would I care either way? My point is that you don’t seem to have any rules around when you flip out at Brady and rip him up in here, but you do seem to have all kinds of rules surrounding the WJC. I’m not sure that Brady making a lot of money is a valid reason in general, but you not liking his game can be. Player selection for a tournament seems to be a reasonable point of potential criticism too.

Personally I think the conversation has been pretty mellow in here. People are disappointed that our boy wasn’t selected and have justifiably lost interest in the team this season. Add in that they haven’t looked very good, and lost to the powerhouse team from Latvia, and you’re going to get some people who wonder if our guy could have made a difference.

I myself wonder that.

Go back to the main take - don’t run over teenagers, pros are different. Not sure if you’ve noticed thise “it’s just a game” posters in every rink in Canada except the NHL rinks? There’s a reason for that.

You might be right, but it’s no reason for a 60 year old national journalist to call a shoot lose “Horrific” - like guys, some perspective here, be like “that sucked” but to call this team national embarrassment is taking it way to seriously.

I think the players deserve a ton of leeway. They’re all young guys doing their absolute best, as are the teams they’re competing with.

Management and coaches though? No need to walk on eggshells around them.

Some of the roster decisions deserve to be called out and I have no idea why Dave Cameron keeps getting these gigs other than him being buddies with Hockey Canada brass.

The only thing different now than the last 40 years is how journalism and opinion is no longer very limited and insular, but open to every mouth out there with an opinion.

The Federal government of Canada launched a special inquiry after doing poorly in the world juniors in consecutive years; can't remember when, think it was the 90s? They didn't think it was just a game then either.

I'll always cheer for Canada but I much prefer it when there's more of a chance they can lose. Not because I want them to, it's an indication that the competition is better and not like it once was where 15-0 games were the norm and only 1 or 2 teams had a chance outside of Canada. Whenever we collectively become enraged at not winning everything everytime is insufferable

Hockey culture has changed and we no longer want to critize the amateur players, but TSN has this money maker they won’t give up on so I guess you just shit on the team in general or the coach now because you gotta shit on someone because it’s our game and we should never be embarrassed, I don’t know, like Gouin think it’s adds to the intrigue. I remember watching it since the early 90s and there was zero chance Canada would ever lose to anyone not named Russia, maybe the USA. It’s good for the tournament and hockey in general, but holy cow people have to chill out over a 19 year old hockey game. Losers

Last year Oliver Bonk took a massive shit to the face and it just shows this tournament isn’t worth it, they splashed his name all over the news 3 weeks ago and here we are with Scoot Whller calling the lose ‘horrific’ - okay, I guess we learned our lesson, good job Canada media I guess you put your name on it so it’s okay.

Anyways, the tournament is in some weird woke space where the hockey is good and the tourney is fun but we as fans shouldn’t take it to seriously but half of Sens Twitter is ready to commit a murder suicide with Dave Cameron
