Money talks... Some of you might not believe it, but that's how the real world works. Money is always going to be involved, people just need to stop being that naive...
And yes people will do things for money

We all know it suddenly just didn't changed like that.
Bobrov and his crew did some ''dirty talk'' and that Rotten tomato just had to accept it.

Everybody has a plan until you see that brown envelop under that table...

Money isn't always the reason people do things.

It of course very well might have been in this case. But personal pride, ego, flattery, favors down the line, ethics, etc... are also reasons people do things.

Highly doubt it considering Rotenberg's family is as rich, if not richer, than the Molson's. He would probably laugh at whatever amount is in that envelop.

Whatever happened must've been a very shrewd move and not a blunt bribe. I think it proves these guys are competent and get things done.

Kissing the ring goes a long way in Russia

Framing it as the co-development of the next NHL superstar is a good thing for SKA

They also could have paid haha

In the real world, people also do a lot of shit because of blackmail, one compromising photo here, one tattle-tale there.

Ive seen "Demigod" thrown around as a possible nickname for Demidov. One possible issue with it.. the haters will start calling him "Demidog", incinuating that he is playing bad, like a dog.

BUT if we take it from them before they start? I.e. we start calling Demidov as Demidog where the "dog" means something good, like "thats my dog!", or like " youre such a dog bro!".

That way the haters cant turn it around. If they try they be like "Ha, Demidog? More like DemiGOD! Hahaha heeyyy wait a minute...."

Plenty or rich people still take small bribes, especially when it's not something that goes against their interests.

That said it's much more likely that it's the PR of having the Habs brass touring SKA and saying good things about the organization because good PR is worth a lot more money then what fits in an envelope.

Any other gems of knowledge you are going to bless us with in this thread? Did you just watch Wall Street?

It is likely true. Money got Michkov out of his contract. Flyers porbably paid more than the contract. Why wouldn't enough money gets Demidawg playing time.

Better chance of Sydney Sweeney sleeping with me than Demi signing an extension with SKA.
I admit that I had to google Sydney Sweeney. Yes, I am old.

There's no way in hell he signs an extension with SKA unless there's a gun to his head. The date his flight leaves for Canada is circled on his calendar.
Let's hope he doesn't use the same company as Ohtani used on his flight to Toronto. I'll let myself out now.

He has a consulting job and does a little bit of everything. Scouting mostly during the season it seems (pro and amateur) and he helped at the prospects development camps too in the off season (on the ice with the coaches and development team).
Hughes hired him as a favor to give him something to do in the hockey world. Vinny was Hughes first big client when he started as an agent.

I fully expect one of the wokesters who covers the Habs to make an issue, even if in a minor way, about a Russian player joining the Habs at this time.
It already happened. I think that the JDM had a big front cover spread criticising the Habs for going to Russia.
Ok Demidov vs Celebrini.

I prefer this than Demidov vs Michkov cause except of the OV at the end of their name I mean its not the same draft etc..

I always been on the fence since 1 1/2 year between Celebrini and Demidov.

One is a kind of a mix of Bergeron/Crosby center who will be a leader and a winner (Celebrini). The complete package.

The other is a supreme talent winger so spectacular with no flaw a bit like Jagr / Kane/ Kaprisov...yeah a little of all those players;

200 foot player and hands like a prime Jagr....( yeah Jagr in the mid 90s was a great 200 player ).......,

a great vision as a winger like Kane etc.

It is a question of taste and I Am thinking that in 5 years down the road I will still be on the fence between those 2.

My final ranking was Celebrini, Demidov , Catton , Dickinson, Buium , iginla, Sennecke, Lindstrom

Celebrini for me. The team would finally have a true #1 center. Suzuki would be where he should be, an elite #2. The Habs would be ready to contend quickly with a center depth of Celebrini, Suzuki, Beck, Kapanen, Hage. It would make the Evans decision less of an issue.

This is what I was thinking. Russians are proud when their countrymen go on to do big things in the NHL. Ovechkin and Bure are/were huge sources of pride in Russia. Demidovmay be the next national treasure. That's how I would frame the importance of his development.
