The offer they mentioned was somebody else's unprotected 2026 1st plus a 2025 second. The condition was the Habs only wanted one guy at 5, if that guy wasn't there, they would do the trade.
I think you get it wrong. Chicago wanted both Lev and Demidov. Chicago has ready to trade a unprotected 2025 first round pick for Columbus #4 2024 pick. This way they get both Lev (at 2) and Demidov at #4.

Columbus refused and drafted Lindstrom.

Ok Demidov vs Celebrini.

I prefer this than Demidov vs Michkov cause except of the OV at the end of their name I mean its not the same draft etc..

I always been on the fence since 1 1/2 year between Celebrini and Demidov.

One is a kind of a mix of Bergeron/Crosby center who will be a leader and a winner (Celebrini). The complete package.

The other is a supreme talent winger so spectacular with no flaw a bit like Jagr / Kane/ Kaprisov...yeah a little of all those players;

200 foot player and hands like a prime Jagr....( yeah Jagr in the mid 90s was a great 200 player ).......,

a great vision as a winger like Kane etc.

It is a question of taste and I Am thinking that in 5 years down the road I will still be on the fence between those 2.

My final ranking was Celebrini, Demidov , Catton , Dickinson, Buium , iginla, Sennecke, Lindstrom

I fully expect one of the wokesters who covers the Habs to make an issue, even if in a minor way, about a Russian player joining the Habs at this time.
I hope one day we watch a movie where this meeting was a focal point in turning the temperature down of a situation this is being aggravated by both sides for their own political interests.

Demidov was ready for the khl pace since day 1. And Rotenberg is definitely a idiot
Skill yes, but you forgot about fitness. And once again, SKA has to win, or at least play in the final. Roman Rotenberg doesn't have unlimited confidence of management and he knows it. And even if he stays SKA coach, he might not stay the U25 national team, which is in fact a classic national team, but with a different official name.

Sennecke could easily still be #3.

Ivan Demidov chose violence for 2025. What a goal.

I wonder what rotenvillage is saying at 0:25 "I TOLD YOU GUYS, WE HAVE TO PLAY MORE DEMIDOV", or "guys, we are so f***ed, we haf to send in to gulag if he doesnt sign extention here"

and it's really suprising how KHL is playing many famous "hockey arena songs" but simply that they are in english, I would expect them to be less occidental, considering they seems to dislike all that is occidental for "destroying" their culture, might be a little far fetched, but it got my attention, comme dirait martin lemay☝️

Watching the highlight of his last game and its obvious his stickhandling is amazing. The thing we dont know yet is can he pull the same dangles against bigger and faster players?

Considering he jumped from the MHL to the KHL and pretty much immediately did it, I can say that he most assuredly be able to do it and not only that but his passing, shooting, IQ and off the puck game is so strong that it will compensate even if he can't do all of that stick handling

Maybe wait till the injury prone guy has played 1 game at the NHL level before claiming he's what we need. We've heard this time and time again, at this poing he's an unkown factor that may or may not help. Demidov is an obvious talent at least

What's the alternative just to cry incessantly about it and continually be proven wrong? I think we have plenty of that around here already, I'm sure you must know that.

Some were saying the same thing about Hutson before he came to the big club and yet he's still doing it in the NHL and has been having success doing so for now.

I think Demidov will do the same and we should be extatic having this guy in our team.

Can't wait to see him play over here with the team!!

Reinbacher is exactly what we need for this team. Like exactly. If we have a stud defensive rangy RD with a quick transition first pass to add to what we're currently developing we are so set.

His injury is just an absolute curse but if he can make it back to where he was trending it's gonna be unreal. We have Demidov, who gives a shit about Michkov. Time to let it go, it been beaten to death twice.
Our defense is so flawed and you are absolutely right, Reinbacher is exactly what we need. Stability. He has great gap control, amazing 1st pass à la Markov, can shut down, can deke and join the rush, can pull the slapper from the point, can be physical. He's a solid prospect - very different from the Nemec/Jiricek/Sanderson/Drysdale/etc.

My wish would be for him to have a similar impact and style as Seider - but I don't think that's realistic nor possible. They're more different than they're similar.

What the heck did Hughes, Lecavalier, and Bobrov say to SKA's directors to totally change Demidov's usage and ice time?????
Wtf does Lecavalier do anyway? Serious question. This is the same guy who didn't want to play for us so, we hire him at the end of his career and pay him to do nothing? Boot his prima donna ass to the curb.

We'll see. It's not only about need and style of play. It's about actually talent level at being a high quality player of that role/style of play. If Reinbacher ends up being a mediocre 2nd pair RD while Michkov ends up being Cole Caufield on steroids, I'd take Michkov.

A little cheezy joke: What's better than 1 Cole Caufield? Two of them. One on each line. So hopefully that's what Laine and Caufield will be!

Whatever he does, I like what he did for Demidov's ice time. Lecavelier used to play in the KHL so he bonded with them.

If HuGo planned all along to hire Lecavalier so when they eventually drafted Demidov he would woo SKA's direction into giving Demidov more icetime, just for that alone it was a great hire! Be happy with it :hockey:

He has a consulting job and does a little bit of everything. Scouting mostly during the season it seems (pro and amateur) and he helped at the prospects development camps too in the off season (on the ice with the coaches and development team).

What did it used to be? I am very curious.
I have been living here since 1993 and I don't see drastic changes like most people claim... i remember the city being very dirty and filled with homeless people from as far as I can go back from memory as a kid. The only changes is that they used to be 'punk' that would wash your car window at every corner. What changed that much in your opinion? the only quite apparent change is that the nightlife is not what he used to be but other than that it is pretty much all the same other than the development of Griffintown, the massive gentrification in Verdun and Hochelaga. So Montreal getting more posh is the issue?
- traffic is worst with no way to fix unless you do what Boston did
- Streets are worst and keep getting worse
- Condo's getting built everywhere (i think every canadian city has this issue)
- Nightlife no where close to what it was
- Corporate not what is was in 2000's but that's been happening since the 80's
- seems like the city is more interested in creating bike paths then fixing its crumbling infrastructure

Just off the top of my head.

- Restaurants are still great, probably best city in Canada for food in my opinion

Again meant no offence and was just stating my opinion.

Would rather live in Mtl than Calgary, Winnipeg, Edmonton or Ottawa.

Would not live in toronto either but would live somewhere in the GTA

Honestly for me top 3 in Canada would be

Outskirts of vancouver like surrey
Outsirts of Toronto like cambridge
Or quebec city

Genuinely curious,

If the Blackhawks had picked Demidov as they should have, would this forum be excited about Levshunov, Sennecke, Silayev, Iginla, or who ever would the Habs would have picked?

Tij Iginla my favorite guy if Demidov wasn't there.

But no same type of hype, for sure.

But Iginla have tools to become something special.

I was looking at his stats game by game and found it interesting that in the last 4 games he played 15+ min and had at least 1 goal each games and 8 points.

And before that from November 13 to December 8 he had 7 straight games with less than 10min playing time with only 1 point

I hope the coach got the message lol
