Terrible in terms of production or actual play?

Just want to comment on how he's played under 9:14. It's not a "Pezzeta getting very limited ice time on the 4th line" TOI. It's incongruous often non-sensical TOI. For example, Demidov will go on for a faceoff just outside his blue line. Play lasts just a couple of seconds and there's a whistle. It's a second faceoff exactly at the same spot. Demidov gets called back to the bench.

Will certainly be interesting to see how he closes out the year.

The way Celebrini is playing it’s hard to imagine him not leading the rookie scoring race when it’s all said and done, but the question will be whether or not there is enough of a gap between him and Hutson to see who’ll get the Calder.

Celebrini is PPG after 25 games played, Michkov was PPG after 27 games played. It's NHL, where it's not that easy to keep that pace, especially for rookies...

Not to justify or excuse the coach who is without question an idiot for his usage of Demidov, but those types of numbers are likely somewhat skewed by it being self-fulfilling. If Demidov gets a point and the coach rewards him with a few extra minutes that game you would expect that type of breakdown in points/TOI.

I remember Therrien once saying that he could tell whether Eller would have a good or bad game based off the first shift. And what would happen is he would basically randomely slash Eller's minutes based off that first shift, which would destroy Eller's confidence and cause him to have a bad game which just made Therrien think he was right with his prediction. But like Rottenberg, he's just an idiot.

Since Demidov is so good on both ends of the ice, why do people dismiss his potential as a C so quickly? People have stated he played there a lot before the KHL.
He has some Peter Forsberg in him and I don't say that slightly, Forsberg was my favourite player growing up. His hockey IQ and work rate is phenomenal for a star player, most of them only think about offense but for him it's always all about the team. I think he will be our franchise player for the next 15 years or so.

I like the idea of him being the backup center on his line depending on matchups or even for the team when a center is injured.

Seeing as he skates with a wide stance a lot, I'm thinking he should do well at the dot.

This team has a need for a skilled left handed center.

I agree, they must have seen something special about this kid.

Still would've prefer a Demidov-Michkov duo but hey.......what do i know.
He really stood out at the WJC two years ago. Stood out on a really bad team. I’m very optimistic about him as a key piece to our future cup contending team

This is not development. This is an immensely talented individual that would take repeated attempts to derail his career to have a chance at messing him up. Development really matters for those on the fringes, Hutson isn’t one of them and neither is Demidov.
As was said in another thread though, even if MSL isn’t teaching anything to Hutson, he’s at least smart enough not to get in his way.

I still remember Therrien randomly deciding that we needed to play dump and chase hockey and that included PK Subban. He ‘coached’ the skill right out of our team.

That’s the benefit of having a guy like MSL, at a minimum he’s going to let skilled players play their game and that bodes really well for players like Hutson and Demodov.
