2024 2nd Overall Artyom Levshunov

Demidov was buried on 4th line and he's 19, I wouldn't expect him coming in green to be ready to be a big 5 on 5 contributor in playoff hockey. His setup on the Powerplay in Game 4 was beautiful. He will have a great career. Don't think that needed to be dropped in here.
Laine was the 4th liner not Demidov. He was on their second line by playoffs while Laine was demoted to the 4th line

The overreaction from the local media and fans here in Montreal (biggest draft steal of the 2000s, etc.) got the better of me.

For me to have the Habs of all teams ending up with Demidov had compounded the disappointment on draft day.

The two will always be linked for me, and my buddies couldn’t let me hear the end of it after the 1st period he played against the Hawks. But I understand you Hawks fans from Chicago aren’t interested in comparing the two. Duly noted.

I just have to think there’s a reason CHI, ANH, and CBJ all passed on him. Maybe that reason is incompetence from those scouts in evaluating him, maybe it’s some bogus Russian factor, but maybe it’s they’re all unsure on whether or not the things he’s able to get away with in the MHL/KHL won’t be available to him in the big league.

I don’t know anything about anything so I don’t have a firm opinion, but it’s not like any of those teams aren’t in need of a potential 100 pt dynamic forward. I’m not drawing any conclusions yet. It’s way too early. I’m choosing to trust our scouts and front office however. Levshunov looks like a gamer too, love the way he moves out there.

Are you a big Desnoyers fan? What do you think of him? I’d imagine living out there you catch quite a bit of the Q league and would like to hear your opinion

Hawks definitely liked Demidov and tried to trade their unprotected pick to get the right to select him, but Columbus said no.

Even knowing Hawks ended up 31/32 (and figure maybe a little more aggressive if they had traded unprotected pick), would you trade Misa/Martone/Frondell/Hagens for Demidov? I'd probably say yeah sure let's go for it.

I haven’t had the time to watch any Q action this year unfortunately. I always love when the Hawks have players from here but at the end of the day I want them to draft whoever will take us back to being contenders.

So he had couple of points against Hawks, cool for the kid. But to make statements and comparisons who is better and what not is pointless this early!! Both have long way to go to reach their full potential!!

Both look promising and hope they have great careers. Sure I was team Demidov at the draft but Lev has been very good in his short time with Hawks so cant complane!!

Wouldn't want to trade Schaefer for Demidov... but everyone else is pretty equivalent to Demidov at best

Credit to the Hawks scouting department for making that call a year ago

for the Hawks it could've came down to a few factors as far as Lev over Demidov at 2 - RHD premium, ability to build a relationship with Levshunov in the states and control his development more, Demidov contract situation (russian factor) to name a few

I still have Demidov as the 2nd best player in that draft class.

However, Habs fans had unrealistic expectations for him and were incredibly annoying around HF (among other sites), so I'm not heartbroken that he had a tough time in the postseason. He performed as you'd expect a player of his caliber to play in that type of series so early in their NHL career.

But if he scored a goal against Washington, none of us would ever have heard the end of it. Nobody on HF would. It'd be unbearable to deal with Montreal fans online.

I would have selected Demidov, the temptation of he and Bedard on the same team would be much for me to pass on Demidov

Bedard needs an elite linemate in the worst of ways. Demidov was an easy guy to bet on being that player.

It is what it is, hope that the scouting department can find that player, either through this year's draft, through free agency, or via trade.

Imagine staring down the barrel of Bedard, Demidov, Martone/Hagens and hitching your wagon to korchinski on the backend. Couldn’t be me.

KD’s universe is in perfect balance.

If you're referring to a world where Demi is taken over Lev, you'd still be hitching your wagon to Rinzel and Vlasic on the backend, not Korch

- We know Levshunov/Demidov was debate here in Chicago and we know that Davidson tried to trade back into Jackets pick for Demidov. It seems clear Davidson valued the upside of Levshunov as a potential top pairing RD over Demidov upside as a top line winger

- Ducks bought hype on Beckett and took him at #3 to guarantee they got him. Shocking at time and well still shocking he went that high. We shall see how it works out as it will either be a genius mover or one that people will talk about for years as a cautionary tale

-With Jackets there was connecting of dots with them and Lindstrom for a while before draft. It was pretty clear they fell in love with his size and skill combo. The red flag of his back situation they simply as seen didn't care about and then they even turned down Hawks trade offer because they wanted kid. Its not looking good for them right now and of course there is real concern about his health going forward

Also Pat Verbeek is just weird. He appears to enjoy going against the grain as he took Carlsson over Fantilli and I could see him still with that 80s mindset that Russian forwards are soft.
