2024 2nd Overall Artyom Levshunov

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

I was listening to Daily Faceoff and they stated that Lev has had an excellent start to his NHL career. Their opinion not anyone on here and they know their shit.

I find it odd a Hawks fan would be cheering for failure of our prospects. While the rest of us cheer for them to be successful. Especially when Lev is looking so good.

I want to talk Levshunov, actually. He has not been egregiously bad in the D zone positionally like I expected. The super weird thing he is doing now is…

Has anyone notice him bailing out of the O zone to the red line when his d partner has the puck? It is the weirdest damn thing. His partner looks for him and he just backs up to red line. I love him so much the beautiful thing about him is that he has so much to learn still, he really has no idea what he’s doing sometimes and that’s a positive not a negative because hes replacement level already while clueless.

He’s like if you Tom Hanks in Big played hockey and was the fastest most skilled guy on the ice. Just a child hockey wise.

Sounds familiar.

I wonder if tomorrow is his last game as a Hawk this season as I think he won't be able to slide his contract after that. I'm not all that concerned about the salary cap ramifications of it but Rockford could certainly use him for their playoff run and both Chicago and Rockford have games on Friday.

Truthfully, they would probably be better served sending him back and not burning a year on his rookie deal to play on a team that is better off losing as many games as possible to close the season out.

He's impressed me and he's only a kid. Albeit he looks like he's 35 years old. Must be that Belarussian blood aha. Send him back to help the Hogs on their final stretch.

Powers in today's The Athletic.

But overall, Levshunov has more than held his own. He has averaged more than 20 minutes a game. Only Alex Vlasic has played more than him in that stretch. With Levshunov on the ice, the Blackhawks are moving forward with the puck more: his 50.55 Corsi percentage is the highest among the blue line since he was recalled, according to Natural Stat Trick. His 57.1 Corsi for rate per 60 minutes is the second highest among all Blackhawks, and his 49.24 expected goals percentage is second to Wyatt Kaiser among the defensemen.

I guess I feel pretty cool that I had the same thought as Scott Powers

Not bad for a career bottom pairing Dman.

Mentioned in that Powers article is a huge question that isn’t a Hawks question but an important one for individuals involved:

Who runs PP1 in two years. Whoever it is will be a 10 million dollar defensemen and the candidates in order are:
Levshunov
Rinzel
Korchinski

Vlasic
EDM
Kaiser
*schaefer takes the 1 spot if picked
Being PP1 QB is worth about 30 points to a D. Whoever of the 3 will likely be a 60-70 point top minute munching D and you’re paying him 9-10% of cap.

Thats why I think we need to burn Levshunovs first year. Get him to RFA faster before the cap really explodes. He doesn’t strike me as a contract problem but could be wrong.

I think Leshunov. He seems to be able to figure out a way to get his shot through.

They ought to slide (team control is the name of the game imo) and then that also lets Rinzel come in and play NHL games when Minnesota's season ends (which could be as soon as Thursday)
