I was a broken record in the draft chats for 4 solid months. Demidov was the SAFE pick. Levshunov was the RISKY pick. At some point you have to find that 1 D. There will be a lot of funerals along the way burying hopes that guys are 1D. Vlasic, Korchinski, for example are trending to being great! This is not a bash Korchinski or Vlasic post... but they will not be 1D. Because there are like 15 1D in the NHL and like 5 of them are RHD. Just look at my troll job in the Seth Jones thread... it's like... an argument that he might be a top 10 RHD in the NHL.

Like picking a QB in RD1 of a Fantasy Football draft when you go wing... guy might throw for 5k yards but the value above replacement sucks.

Last year the 32nd best RHD (on average the worst #1RHD) by points was Cody Ceci, Will Borgen, and John Marino, 32nd best RW was Quentin Byfield.
Levshunov was never risky.

Even if he doesn't reach his ceiling, there's a decent chance he has a very long NHL career.

Totally agree with sentence 2. If you skate like that, at that size, and get shots on goal you will basically always stick. He's risky in the sense that we probably still know with more certainty that Demidov will be elite in the league than we do that Levshunov will be elite in the league. The hit rate on D are much lower, but the reward much greater.

He's still on the Icehogs page too. If he were really being called up, all the beat writers would be screaming it on Twitter.

I don’t see the harm in giving him a cup of coffee in the NHL, but unless he thrives he really needs to spend as much time in developmental leagues as he can this year

I don't see the point. He isnt ready
He absolutely isnt ready. But he needs to learn what he needs to work on to master this level. He does it at every level he's jumped. He has a "Yikes" era at the beginning and then he dominates. He doesn't "develop" he just adjusts his game because he's talented enough already to be elite in the NHL, needs to mess up alot over the last 20 to figure it out. He will be a tank commander and this board is gonna have a freak out about it.

Just like Bedard, he needs to find out what he can get away with in the NHL.....it could be unpleasant to the eye, but its just sticking the toe in the water.....not holding a hot iron to him like poor KK last year.
