He is 19yo and a rookie D learning the speed, gaps, etc. He it going to make mistakes like all D. To expect perfection instead of development at this stage is getting f***ing annoying.

What is this absolutest one or the other crap?

"Expect perfection..." nonsense. No one expects perfection, just development.

He has games where he's more "on" than others, the goal is to increase his awareness to where his instincts limit his unforced errors thereby DEVELOPING his all around game. He makes a lot of gaffes where he has the time and space to make better decisions. If he was making errors under pressure against a great team that'd be different. Everyone talked about this stuff when he was drafted and he's still got a ways to clean some things up, unforced errors burn you far harder in the NHL than at lower levels. It's not even a criticism per se, it's just a fair observation.

You don't like reality, don't read the thread.

And I, like everyone else, see a high reward type player. But the "risk" part is still raw.

What if told you AL makes this play into a 2 on 1 the other way.

Dude stands at the blue line, pure disrespect “this dude can’t walk me, and if he does I have help”.

Then from flat footed he beats 2 back checkers by three strides joining the rush.

For reference.

I was not meaning that directly at you. He will make mistakes as he learns. He is 19. I don’t expect him up for at least one more year so he will be fine. I like his progress. I give him a lot slack as he is so raw so I may be in the minority. And, I like his personality.

Sorry, thought you did. I just call the games/periods I watch tit for tat.

His gamesmanship and top end play has improved as the season has gone on.

It's a thing, you don't want to just focus on a prospect's flaws but sometimes those things are the big difference makers because the player has an NHL floor right off the bat without a certain flaw.

It was the right pick regardless. Last year was a top end loaded D draft. The Hawks had their choice of the best of the bunch. Decided it was Lev and that they valued him a hair over sublime offensive talent Demidov

If he doesn’t pan out it is what it is. But he definitely is on that Seider/Mcavoy path like projected. Hell Bouchard and Dobson still make some of these mistakes that people are harping on.

He’s never gonna be what Keith was. He’s a different kind of D man. The flashes of brilliance are obvious
