I caught the third period and he definitely looks like he has the tools as he's smooth, can skate, pass, and shoot. But he also looks like that kid who is too cool to try hard. Maybe that's just his game? Sometimes I thought Pronger or Byfuglien didn't look like they were trying that hard and then BAM they would knock someone into the third row.

I have a feeling that Lev is going to be awesome in Rockford by the end of the year and when all of the kids figure out the league and how to play together, Lev will be critical for a deep playoff run down there.

Who was Lev pairedxwith?

I noticed both KK and Lev were -2l ast noght...EDM was +1...so I am assuming Kev got paired with Kk....IF Lev had his worst game despite 4 shots on goal (to just 2 shots on goal for KK....and co sideri g Kk now already -5 on the season, maybe Lev pulled down by Kk's errors?
Not sure...but just saying.. Remember Lev coming g back from i jury with no pre-season training g camp after early injury..so you expect him to take awhile...but Kk already -5 is not a goid sign..

Or maybe they need time to develop communication if thatvis the new pairing g?

Let us re-vist 10 games fro. Now.

KK was Arty's partner and KK definitely had some bad moments too but the errors Arty made were not BECAUSE he was playing with a deficient d-partner but the results for the team were not helped with the two of them together.

What's the end game here Blackhawks? Do you need people to admit that you're right or something?
I want everyone to realize now and today that we have a clueless GM that needs to go, we have tha opportunity of a lifetime literally to draft Demidov and have two star forwards leading this team to a cup or multiple cups but he blew it, how is everyone not furious about this how??? I hate watching this team now, we are last place again, this is pathetic. This team will remain pathetic until we get someone at the helm who knows what the hell they are doing. How can you guys pretend to be fans of this team and not be furious at this huge loss of Demodov? This is literally catastrophic hockey wise…

Did you expect the Hawks to be good this year? That's not the plan...they need 2-3 more pieces via draft more than anything.

Shouldve stayed at MSU, he wasnt as dominant as the numbers suggest

Two things:

1. Lev did not like being in school. He did not want to spend another year there.

2. He's better off being coached by Sorensen getting acquainted with the next generation of Hawks.

Lev just needs to stay somewhere 2 years, if that's the ahl this and next, fine.

Genuinely curious on this. Would you be happy if Levshunov becomes a true #1D and has a significantly better career than Demidov and helps the Hawks win a few cups? Or would you be happier if Demidov turns into Kucherov and Levshunov busts only so you can say you were right for the next 20 years while the Hawks win nothing?

Just respect the hypothetical. I don't want to hear that Levshunov won't be any good. I know you already think Demidov will be elite and Lev will be somewhat above average.

It's no secret I wanted Demidov but I have to accept that KD picked Levshunov instead. Hopefully Levshunov becomes the player KD and his scouting staff project him to be and then it won't matter as much whether or not Demidov turns out to be a star player. The fact that Demidov is playing so well as an 18 year old in the KHL when his idiot coach is screwing around with him and giving him virtually no power play time is even harder to take because Levshunov has played only 3 games since coming back from injury and hasn't looked particularly good in those games - and yes I watched all 3 of his games. Hopefully he is just adjusting to live action at a higher level and he'll settle in and make us all believe we will be happy with the pick.

Kid has the rest of his career to build those connections AFTER he develops the right way. Kind of ironic how there was so much commentary about how many different leagues he'd been in over the past couple of years and then the first thing we do is move him again.

Celebrini is the only other first round pick from last years draft playing pro NA hockey right now. Let these young guys cook man.

Just think if your whole career was decided after 4 games in the minors by fans.......

Hopefully no one is doing that, I know I'm not - but what we can do is watch him play and draw some conclusions of where his game is currently, even while acknowledging it's very early in his learning process at this new level. We can also use his games at MSU last year to see what areas have carried over to his early AHL career - both good and bad.

What I see in these first 4 games is very much what I saw from him last year at MSU - his so-called "measurables" - skating, size/strength, offensive instincts and abilities - are very good, but what isn't good (yet) are his defensive instincts. Plain and simple he's not a good defender, or to be more precise he has too many lapses to be a reliable defender. The hope is he can be coached to become much better in that area.

Rockford is a development-focused team controlled by the Blackhawks, while MSU has no obligation or incentive whatsoever to try to instill pro habits in him because Levshunov running wild was very effective for them last year and his lapses in play and decision making were rarely punished. It's not a given that going back would have been better for his development.

Thing is, he missed training camp/preseason games with the chance to play against NHL/AHL hybrids. I love his transition game, I think that's his moneymaker. As far as mistakes/over-pinches, etc. go, that's why you're in the AHL to develop, where mistakes don't really matter big picture wise. Hawks don't need him trying to survive on an NHL bottom pair and playing an ultra-bland game right now.

I’ve literally never heard this narrative until Hawks fans starting bending over backwards to rationalize KK playing in the NHL last year and then Lev leaving college this year

According to Norris votes Hughes and Makar are the two best D in the world and guess what, both played D+1 and even D+2 in the NCAA in Makars case. Rlly seems like a reinventing the wheel sort of mindset around here

He didn’t want to stay in college and chose to turn pro/play in the AHL. Not that complicated. A lot of European guys play in AHL as teenagers, less common with North Americans due to CHL rule and most college kids preferring to wait. You’re the first guy I’ve seen bend over backwards to make it seem like a big concerning thing.

Duncan Keith played two years in AHL

Niklas Hjalmarsson split two years between AHL-NHL

Same with Dustin Byfuglien and Cam Barker

James Wisniewski played two years in AHL

Brent Seabrook was the only one that jumped to NHL(he finished his last year of junior playing a handful of games at n AHL)

That’s six defencemen from that beginning of the dynasty…Wis was moved as a piece for Samuel Pahlsson(remember him) in 2009, Barker was traded for forgotten 2010 member, Kim Johnsson and prospect Nick Leddy…

So how the Hawks deal with Vlasic, Kaiser, Korchinski, Allan, Del Mastro, Levshunov, Phillips and Crevier will more than likely involve Rockford

Yeah well if Levshunov were sub six foot and 170 pounds I wouldn't want him in the AHL at 19 either.
