While Canada is playing like shit there is one thing to remember and this comes from my many years attending different international hockey tournaments here in Europe over the years. Teams like Latvia make sure that they try to do their best and play the hardest against Canada--lots of eyes on the game from people who are looking for sleepers and players to fill roles in other leagues around the world. Latvia has produced a few good players that have caught fans off guard with the fact the players are not that bad. Most player who make the NHL or other leagues from Latvia were first noticed after playing against Canada because they caused Canada headaches or stress. When Latvia plays say Hungary? Not many eyes on the game. Kids playing for Latvia know full well that if they look good against the mightily Canada? Their name could suddenly be put on a list by a scout or someone else. Canada is the country every other country gets up to play against.

I get how the other countries want to beat Canada and get up for those games. But Canadian players are starting to look like they are getting up for all these games too and showcase their skills. Unfortunately they are doing the opposite and instead of showcasing they are showboating too much. Too many cute passes and bad moves. They have been doing this for too long and our skill development has not been showing well lately either.

That game was terribly Stanc-ky. I fear this USA game is going to be a pool buster. They'll look to crush Latvia after their victory over Canada, and Latvia is going to to be emotionally spent.
