2024/25 Trade Rumours, Speculation etc Thread

Anyway we could get Tage Thompson from Buffalo? He's signed long term and could be that big #2C we need. Guy is probably itching to see playoffs. What do you guys think.

I can't see Buffalo wanting to give him up, they've been primarily using him as a RW though. He's really really bad at faceoffs. Sounds like they've experimented with him there but he just plays better off the wing. He's signed long term at a decent cap hit, I think Buffalo would want an awful lot to pry him out of there. He also has a 5 team NTC so good chance he just blocks a trade to us even if we managed to offer them something they want.

A guy playing in Buffalo would nix going to Winnipeg, ya this is totally a level playing field league with all the damn no-trade clauses.Just another reason why our President's trophy is so amazing, never thought i would see the day a team from Winnipeg would do that.

We definitely punch well above both our weight and location as a franchise which is something we should be immensely proud of. But the harsh reality is that we just aren't in a great location geographically and we aren't a major metro area. Those two things alone are enough to scare off a lot of players. Once guys get here the city, fans and team grows on them for the most part. But the trouble is always going to be getting them here in the first place and American born players are even more tricky.

I'm not saying Thompson would for sure nix a trade to Winnipeg. His dad played parts of two seasons with the Jets before relocation so he could provide him with insight and he moved all over the US growing up playing in all sorts places like Alaska, Long Island, Connecticut, Chicago, St. Louis to Buffalo. So the kid has been all over the place and probably knows what he likes in a location.

But the reality of that situation is I don't really see Buffalo feeling they need to move on from a guy they have under long term contract without being offered something substantial enough to even get the conversation going. This won't be a couple 1sts and a B level prospect type of trade. They are going to want something substantial off our roster to part with Thompson.

Maybe Chevy can pull off another fleece with Buffalo

Teuvo Teravainen i think would be a good target. Finnish so maybe push the needle for ehlers to stay. Two years left on his cheap contract. Would be something like a first + Lambert and more, for sure

He's an interesting choice if we lose Ehlers for 2nd line LW. Can't see Chicago wanting to unload vets right now, maybe at the deadline. You'd have to think they are looking to turn a corner this coming season.

Rossi interesting. Following his progress
He was drafted one spot before Perfetti. Upside young, plays center, still inexpensive.
Rather take a flyer on him then UFA whose age is pushing 30+

Rossi is interesting. Seems to produce but generally on the outs with the Wild. Moved all around the lineup. Very small C. If he can be had for cheap he's worth a shot but man that would be a tiny 2nd line.

I really don't see the Wild sending him within the division.

You have to wonder why he's on the outs there. Why would a retooling team give up a good young player. Maybe I'm over thinking things but there mist be some issue there for them to get rid of him just as he's emerged.

Not really what we need though. We need to add skilled size to line 2.

Probably because there are only one or two 5’10” centers in history who have done well in the playoffs.

My list from TSN board is
Bennett
Ehlers
Provorov
Dumoulin
Roslovic

Skip everyone else
Bennet would be ideal, but is extremely unlikely, he’ll have a lot of options with big money
Ehlers is, in my opinion, most likely leaving
Provorov is a no thank you for me, we have needs and he addresses none of them
Dumoulin I wanted us to get at the TDL, so I agree
Roslovic is a huge no…why would we want him back

I’d be looking at
Nelson…only at a reasonable salary and term
Ekblad…partner for Morrissey
Dumoulin…vet bottom pairing LHD to play with Salo/Miller
Raddysh…think he’d be good with Lowry and Nino

I figured they are a couple years away yet so get some new NHL ready talent for then. He's got two years left. But yeah wouldn't be easy

Can't imagine Jets interested in him with Yager in the pipeline and roughly same size. Unless they move Yager for something else.
very much doubt the jets who have been trying to fill that position for years wouldn't be interested in him because we have a prospect who is still years away and that's if he even makes it

55 ain’t playing forever. We can’t trade any true centers with potential.
Yup. Chevy has got to address the 2nd line center issue this offseason. Even more so with Lowry now slated to miss atleast the first month of the season. Chevy's gone the bandaid route over and over again with shitty results. Its time to take a 1st and a 2nd and a top prospect not named Elias or Brayden and go get a non-geriatric bonafide 2C with term. The teams window is now. By the time Yager is ready our window may very well be closed.
