2024/25 Trade Rumours, Speculation etc Thread

Maybe as a reserve. I think Chibrikov is ahead of him development wise.

The Jets got a slide year on Lambert's ELC so he's only going into year 2. I think they'd want him to fill out a bit, keep the speed but be able to score greasy goals in the NHL.

Not sure he's ready yet. I think he's definitely competing with Chibrikov next season for a spot, Ehlers spot. Because the Jets aren't going to spend some $22-$24 million in Cap space on 2 wingers, imo, with Perfetti still to sign long term. Perhaps Gabe as well.

They'll re-sign Iafallo probably. I think he's solidified his role on the top PK, fits around the lineup on any line. That's valuable. I think they keep Barron, Namestnikov and Connor in those PK roles. Maybe Appleton, Kupari, Gus, and Ford down the line. Tanev will be interesting. He's going to get a pay cut, I'd think. But he's a great energy player. Might be worth keeping him over Kupari.

Guys like Yager and Julien will be guys who start with the PK reps on the Moose next year. Maybe Wagner and Zhilkin get them too, if there is a coaching change.

Prospects like Lambert and Barlow I think the Jets would like to see them be effective top 6 players and they'll be given the time to develop. Definitely having a finisher like Barlow could help Lambo become a better PP player,

With the amount of young forwards coming up the ranks tha you'd like to see graduate, there should be a lot more competition next year, and the year after. To get better take the next step.
I don't think Chib ever becomes an NHL player. He might play a small number of games for a couple seasons. Lambert is further , faster and more complete. Even then, he's gonna have a time making it.

I hope I'm wrong about chib.

If you don't make the NHL by the 3rd year of your ELC the road usually opens up elsewhere. I'm hoping Namestnikov can help him grow into a pro, if not he's a much more valuable asset than a Lucius or Vesalainen.

This is interesting, definitely the opposite of what I would think. To me Lambert is flashier and more dynamic where Chibrikov is more adept at playing in the short areas and along the boards. I saw a more assertive player at the NHL level.

Both have NHL level passing and shot

I can see Lambert's forechecking being a great asset at NHL level. And we know he has the skill to finish plays. I just think he will need time to learn how to adapt his game to playoff style hockey. That stuff can take years.

Everyone sees these guys differently though, it's all good

Lambert needs to add strength and get into the hard areas more. He might need another half to another season on the Moose.

Seems like a lot of the beat writers think it's Salomonsson who will get the push next year.

Seems like the Jets when they make a decision to integrate a prospect do so quickly.

Hard to say where Chibrikov fits after missing over half this year. Wouldn't surprise me if he needs a 1/4 to half the season on the farm to get back up to speed.

I'm curious if the org goes after Boeser as a FA. Big right handed one shot scorer to play with Cole.

Chibs to me has the better shot and plays with more tenacity in the hard areas.

Lambert is the much better transition player and is a better passer. Lambert if he fills out has the higher ceiling but Chibs floor is higher and likely allows him to make it in a depth role and work his way up.

I just wonder where that would leave the Moose next year. You bring in some talent in the forward ranks on the farm but if your defense can't transition the puck to offense you're not playing the Jets system, and probably playing in your own end more than you like. Can Coghlan alone do that for the Moose, assuming he comes back? Prospectively what's the timeline for Garret Brown or Freij?

I don't see the Jets improving in free agency, it's so rare that happens. Having a 1st to trade could shake out a decent player though. I don't have a good sense of what is available at the bottom end of the 1st this draft, maybe others do...

I think it will be paramount that Heisinger brings in some good vet dmen that can transition the puck for the Moose. We won't really have any dmen we need to develop next year if Salomonsson makes the Jets, so they can go all in on vets there.

On forward they need to bring in the right vets to insulate Yager and Barlow.

Vet Yager Lambert
Barlow Vet Chibrikov/Vet
Vet Zhilkin Wagener
Julien Vet Vet

I didn't even notice Boeser in the VCR game. He has a good shot but doesn't seem to douch else. He's not a play driver. Not sure how he'd fit in Arniel's system. Reminds me a bit of Toffoli.

I'm not his biggest fan but he's a player the org liked at the draft. This org does tend to pursue players they wanted to draft in the past, but I agree that he's really only as good as his center.

Hopefully some of these young forwards are close to cracking the lineup. Perfetti has been on the team for 3 and a half years and is still the youngest forward by 3 years. Time to get a some young blood in the lineup.

Yeah it's worth noting that both the Stars and Blues are going to be relying on 2021 and 2022 draft picks going into the playoffs, Johnston and Bischel for the Stars, Bolduc and recently signed Jimmy Snuggerud for the Blues. Lambert and Salomonsson still need development time it looks like. Lucius and Chibrikov are lost for the season.

I'm not advocating for boeser because I think the wild sign him but ill just give my 2cents seeing as I watch every canuck game. I think he's the type we go after, very character human and he's a prairie boy to the core, hell he went to UND and legitimately loved it there. He's played very well lately after struggling to adjust to losing jt miller who he played with for years. Tied for most goals on the canucks and 2nd in points behind Quinn Hughes. A little on the slow side but he gets open and if you feed him the puck good chance he scores. I love Brock but like I said I think the wild will geta friendly deal and he goes home to be with family.

Considering that nobody has signed an extension, there isn't much evidence either way (aside from AI saying he'd like to stay)

As always, draw your ridiculous conclusions however you want to
Players can have the best of intentions in terms of staying but if they hit UFA and teams come a callin' with 10% - 20% over Chevy's assessed value and are promised increased roles its easy to see why they might consider leaving, especially if the new locale is warm, Metropolitan, and has lower taxes.

I think you are very very wrong.

Chibrikov could have played this year. I don't know if Lamberts going to be able to translate his game to the NHL.

The feather in Nikitas cap is he is extremely versatile.

I think we can all agree that Snuggerud is a top notch name.

Where/when do ppl see the Jets fwd prospects coming in realistically over the next few years? Barring injuries ofc to any of the current NHL players.

Lucius (who knows if he ever plays)
Chibrikov
Lambert
Yaeger
Barlow

Next year, I don't know if there's a full time role at top6 Wing... Vilardi is a RFA I think he'll get a 5+ year deal. Think the Jets will extend Perfetti a year early (5+ years) , and I am leaning toward Ehlers (5+ years) being re-signed at this present time. So essentially the entire top 6 wings are back. If Ehlers is not back, I don't think it's out of the realm of possibilities Jets don't find a replacement NHL quality top 6 winger as they'll have ample cap space.

Then KC the following year I beleive the Jets sign. So entire top 6 Wing accounted for in the next 5+ year range.

Scheifele as 1C, no one is displacing him. Think they still go with Namestnikov next year at the minimum. So possibly 2C in a couple years (Yaeger or Lambert).

Possibly a spot next to Lowry? I think the Jets will re-sign 1 or 2 of Tanev, Iafallo and Appleton and have them with Nino/Ehlers and Lowry.

I don't really see the Jets 4th line a good spot for those prospects. Would like to hear from those who actually follow them who have the versatility to play and flourish beyond a top 6 role... I think Chibrikov does hb Lambert? Barlow? :dunno:

Given the contracts signing I see 1 top 6 spot open in the near future. Idk which of these prospects have the versatility to play with Lowry and his line's identity, or if that's necessarily the best spot for them.
