I find it amusing that people seem to think that all Canadians (including NHLers) share the same opinions they do on what's going on right now. I talk to plenty of Canadians that would move to the states in a heartbeat if they could
As for NTCs, people are talking like it's only about location. There are other factors that go into it as well... if you're traded to another team, you have a new employer. Different organizations have different reputations among the players, and maybe someone doesn't want to play for certain owners for whatever reason
So before saying that these clauses should be done away with, imagine if your boss had the right to trade you to a different company within your profession and you were obliged to go work for them - maybe having to uproot your family against your will to do so. Pretty sure that most people wouldn't be OK with that
