2024/25 Trade Rumours, Speculation etc Thread

Exactly. Thank you!

Yes we missed out on him because we wanted him and didn’t get him. That’s a weird thing to argue about. If chevy was comfortable with Names at 2C I wonder what position he wanted Nelson to play?
You can't miss out on something you had no chance of getting

Go to a bar in LA filled with supermodels... I'm pretty sure you won't be saying you "missed out" on picking one up when they all turn you down

Oh, so they utilized their LHD top end skill and depth to optimize pairings and cover for their RHD deficiencies?

Heiskanen is a freak of nature. One of the best defenders in the league when healthy. Harley is also coming into his own as an elite dman. Lindell is a safety blanket type of partner. I gave that left side their deserved flowers.

Anyways, my entire point was based on what's at their disposal.  If the Jets had a RHD depth chart of Lyu, Ceci and Dumba, there would be fans pissed off if nothing was addressed heading into a Cup run.

I'm not sure what's outlandish about that.
Maybe Im misinterpreting but you were using Dallas as an example of crappy RHD depth... except without their injuries they are not.

We have crappy RHD and LHD depth with zero injuries...

The teams we have to compete with to get to the cup finals have very solid D-cores - ie third pairing is not an afterthought.

Toews-Makar
Girard-Manson
Malinski-Lindgren
Johnson

Middleton-Faber
Chisholm-Spurgeon
Bogo-Merrill
Jiricek/Brodin

Vegas and Edmonton depend on Theodore and Ekhom getting healthy... then they are deeper than us as well.

I agree that waiting until the deadline to overpay for whatever is available isn’t a great option. It’s also indicative of a team that wasn’t good defensively. I’m not sure we’ve solved that issue either.

It’s easy for people who bristle at any criticism to point out the team is doing very well. But it’s also a fact that Names is not a 2C on any other team. Missing out on Nelson and pretending we never needed him anyway is silly.
k

Not good defensively? The Jets are in first in the league and have given up the least amount of goals in the entire NHL. Every other team wishes they had their defensive problems.

You drive uber…don’t you

The leaf fans are calling him Laugh ton stock seriously his Corsi stats are a joke.
I remember saying the jets should get Schenn and I got a few “no thanks” comments.

Upcoming UFA top 6 Cs…
John Tavares, 34 yr old, 6’1, 211 lb, LHS, John Tavares | 7yrs x 11.000M (TOR)
Brock Nelson, 33 yr old, 6’4, 210 lb, LHS, Brock Nelson | 6yrs x 6.000M (COL)
Claude Giroux, 37 yr old, 5’11, 188 lb, RHS, Claude Giroux | 3yrs x 6.500M (OTT)
Sam Bennett, 28 yr old, 6’1, 195 lb, LHS, Sam Bennett | 4yrs x 4.425M (FLA)
Mikael Granlund, 33 yr old, 5’10, 185 lb, LHS, Mikael Granlund | 4yrs x 5.000M (DAL)

Putting aside the Winnipeg issue…the only ones that really interest me on that list are Brock Nelson or Sam Bennett. Nelson could work on a short 2yr deal, but if we’re looking longer term, then it’s Bennett hands down

bennett just started talking extension in florida and if he makes it to market he ain't coming here, majority of the league will be in on him

Realistically, only Granlund is a potential option for the Jets. Panthers are already working on an extension for Bennett. Nelson already indicated that Winnipeg was not a desired destination.

Yes, understood. Winnipeg was a less desired location, and that was for a few month stint. I highly doubt he'll give Winnipeg much of a thought considering the options he's likely to have as a UFA.

Lambert, Heinola, and 1st for Brayden Schenn in offseason. Give the Schenn brothers one year as teammates.

If the rumour they wanted to play together was true.

I mean if he wasn't going to waive for us at the deadline why would he in the summer.
I don't think he was on the trade block at the deadline.

Blues are going to make the playoffs, imo. Schenn vs. Schenn. Hellebuyck vs Binnington, Rd. 3.

If the Jets torch the Blues I could see them going younger, building on their younger core.

If the Blues win, well fawk idk.
