I know some are predicting doom and gloom in the playoffs if certain moves aren't made but I really like the makeup of the team especially with the top line playing like they can and the other 3 lines contributing. The X factor is Helle and if he can continue his play from the regular season into the playoffs this year then the Jets can compete. Sometimes a trade to make your team better just isn't there for a multiple of reasons.

And very often the trade that looks great on paper flops on the ice. Avs paid a huge price. It may or may not make them better. Time will tell.

WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN HAPPY IF CHEVY DEALT A 1st AND YAGER.

SCREW THAT!!!!
Ritchie was ranked 19th by the Hockey Writers in the top-100 prospect rankings. Yager was 50-something. Plus Isles got Kylington.

Chevy would have had to trade a first, Yager, another decent prospect (maybe a He) and a roster player to compete with the Avs offer.

Posters should not get down that we lost out on Nelson. Look what happened when we got Monaghan last year, and Tofolli, and they did nothing to help the team, and Nelson may have been the same. Look how fast Wheeler declined since he left.

A good GM like Chevy will know what his top price is, and stick to his guns, and not let emotions dictate, and give way too much.

I liked Nelson, but I didn’t like his age, and I’m glad Chevy didn’t sell out the future, for “maybe” a deep playoff run. I don’t even think Nelson is in the top 100 in scoring, but I’m not sure on that.

Maybe Chevy will now turn his attention to a younger defence man who can score, and a depth scoring 3rd or 4th liner.

This team as is, is 1st overall, and will do fine with what they have.

Brock to Colorado.

The Central just got gross again overnight...

I don’t know too much about Cozens, but many think he has tons of upside, and is younger.

This may be the better way to go.

Agreed.

A couple months ago a Buffallo fan (coming in peace) asked our Board what Wpg fans would want in a hypothetical trade with Buffalo, and I proposed Cozens.

I think Cozens current contract is decent and there is potential imo.

6’3” center who signed 7 years last season for 7.1m aav. Scored 30+ goals 2 years ago, having a down year on a inconsistent team.

Billed as ultra competitive (nick name workhorse from Whitehorse). Will drop the gloves. Has speed to keep up with Ehlers and a heavy shot. Still needs some maturing in the defensive end but not a liability.

We could probably get Marchand for the package we had on the table for Nelson.

Marchand - Lowry - Ehlers would be a super gritty 2nd line that can excel in both ends of the rink.

Lets us run the classic Perfetti - Names - Iafallo line that has always produced well
Lowry got caved in last year against Colorado. We need a fully viable 2nd line, not a rehash of last year's attempt with better side pieces.

Isles thought so much of Kylington they immediately sent him to Anaheim for the coveted future considerations.

Isles also retained 50% of $6M so the Jets would have been able to cover that with all the cap space the Jets have.
I have no problem misses out on Nelson …. I want a tough D man instead as the #1 priority.

Big pickup for the Avs. I hope we don't face them in the first round...which would mean the Jets drop points to a surging Dallas Stars club.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Stars obtain 70-75% of their maximum possible points in these final 20 games or so (28 - 30 points)...all without having Heiskanen and Seguin in the lineup. Jets will likely need at least 25 points in their final 19 games to finish first in the division...say something like 12-6-1. They likely can't lose both remaining games to the Stars in regulation.

Please, can we at least trade for a d-man to push awful Logan Stanley out of the lineup!

Cozens is more like the type of player the Jets need. He’s fast, young, gritty and tough, and can score. Playoff type guy.

Don’t know much about him, but he just may be that diamond in the rough, the Jets are looking for.

This is how Florida picked up some great players after they had a down year- Reinhart.

If Cozens scored 30 goals a couple years ago, you can bet he can do it again.
