would you rather sign nelson and hope he can be good for the next few seasons or have to give up another 1st for a 2c because rentals have been the only thing available to us
Absolute worst case scenario is extending Nelson, him falling off a cliff a la wheeler, and still having to give up assets for a rental 2C next year or tue year after

If there was ever a year to go all in and go for it.... it's this season. But, just be smart about it.
Agreed.

Tough question. I think I'd rather try my hand at a young depreciated center asset in the summer like Cozens. This method worked out great for Washington with Strome/Dubois.

Just think we'd be setting ourself for a steep plunge in a couple years filling the roster with old and unlovable players.

I don't think he will fall off a cliff in 1-2 years and hopefully by the time he does we will have lambert/yager ready to take the spot

Again, completely agreed.

The org has shown, right or wrong for some people, that they don't believe the solution is currently in house or not ready yet. I think that's pretty clear and obvious with their actions at this point.

Nobody is advocating to sign Brock for a 7 year deal.

what are we trading for cozens? they want roster players not futures... do you want to pay for EP40? because that's probably the only players available like the pld situation, I think that contract is more likely to be worse then w/e nelson gets

How does the success of Yager's season affect our 2C needs currently? Can't guarantee his skill will translate to the NHL but hes looking great right now.

Given where we are in our arc and how we integrate prospects as a result he is likely 2 years away from getting the job if he progresses well as a pro.

Lambert is a good comp, he was sent back for a second year to marinate instead of getting the center spot after a very good first pro year.

I wish. Pulock's wife would never allow him to play in Winnipeg lol.

His wife may not want him too, but Lou doesn't give out NMC so he wouldn't have much of a say. But he's not the D man the Jets need. Jets need a rough around the edges defensive guy....Parahyko or someone like that.

Ideally I think you acquire him and then extend him for say 3 seasons max. And then the damage is minimal if he falls off a cliff and it's also conducive to hopefully a younger player being ready.

The big thing is, is he even open to a 3 year deal that takes him to 36? Or does he only want to extend until he's like 38+? And would he extend in Winnipeg (is an obvious question as well).
