Speculation: 2024/25 Trade Rumours, Speculation etc Thread

Report that Norris could be made available by Senators. Interesting.

The fact that a team in the midst of a playoff race would make their 2C available speaks volumes as to how he's seen be the team. He'd have to come at an extreme discount to be remotely interested on my part.

Maybe something like Norris and Zub for Pageau and Dobson. I think if Norris moves it's because Shane Pinto is seen as a good candidate for 2C on the Sens.

Hard pass on Norris, he sneezes and he's out for a month.
I think one of the reasons LA was willing to move Vilardi was his injury history. Maybe he can get back in track like Gabe

Some guys never really heal up (cough cough Chaz cough), but a guy who is Norris' age has the potential to fully recover and turn the corner (although i don't know what his specific diagnosis/prognosis are)

Edit: Sam Bennett is another guy who went though some hellish shoulder issues and turned out to be an incredible reclamation project

Just wondering, why have so many people sort of soured on Barlow ? He's got 30 goals and 54 points in 54 games as we speak with Oshawa.6"1 center almost 200 pounds, i don't think i would be trading him .

Its because he's only a ppg player in his draft plus 2 and his scoring has declined two years in a row. You'd expect a player of his pedigree to be dominating at that stage in his development but he's regressed two years in row.

To me he's a pretty big question mark at this point. If he can't translate against kids what chance does he have against adults.

Does BlueSky work as media posts here like Twitter used to? For those who care, here's my take on the Jets trade deadline options this year, with some common names being thrown out there or for ones that WPG should try to pry from the other team.

Also in the thread are some of the "risky" players or players to strictly avoid for one reason or another.

In a magical world, Jets would somehow be able to get Erik Karlsson for this year and next two so they have another defenceman that could add something offensively like Morrissey can but on the right-side. Connor Murphy would be a solid consolation prize as a better fit on the top pair, and DeMelo could slide to the bottom pair to stabilize things a bit there. Hopefully they sneak out with one of those mid 6 forwards too to give them some options of mixing up their top 6 when they need to - someone like Barrett Hayton is the long-term solution (but obviously unlikely), McCann/O'Reilly/Gourde might be short-term upgrades over Namestnikov but carry some risk in another way (mostly the speed factor), but even adding someone like Bjorkstand or Reilly Smith would help a lot.

In the real world, I see WPG probably going after a PKer for both a forward and defenceman - probably a Luke Schenn and Armia, neither of whom would honestly move the needle much for what the Jets really need to improve on (yes, the penalty kill, but more importantly 5v5 offence).

In the "glass-half-empty" world, Jets probably make one move and then announce an expensive Pionk extension which would be just as bad as the last time they overpaid him in a contract year.

Lizotte was someone the Jets targeted in Free Agency... could see them circling backto him if the price is reasonable.

It's possible that he could but I have to ask why his name would come up on the market when the Sens are trying to make the playoffs, maybe paying close to 8m for a guy who spends a lot of time in the tub and on the trainers table has something to do with it.

How about this. How many times has a player with a NMC been traded to Winnipeg and it comes out that the player didn’t have to waive his clause because Winnipeg wasn’t on his list? It’s zero. I think it’s very likely that Winnipeg is on 100% of no trade lists.
Its' certainly not zero & every Jets fan reading this should know that that statement is patently false when such a glaring example exists.

I'm referring to Stastny waiving his to come to Winnipeg.

That's excellent news!

Hopefully someone is on a direct flight from Colorado to Piladelphia in the next couple of days too.

I guess there might be something to that November 22nd handshake after all.

Also, maybe it's a great thing our Lady Bing winner did what he did that night. Just in case he was being tested.
What are you talking about?

This whole post went completely over my head.

He's played in 52 of their 60 games this season... maybe they just see Pinto as 2C moving forward and they want to move his contract?

Nelson is the bait and Chevy is gonna pull a Stastny. That’s my gut feeling.

The point remains that no-one has yet to give a reason why O'Reilly would want to come here for a number of years to finish his career. The guy has his cup and likely is fine staying in Nashville over coming here.

He "has his Cup" doesn't mean he doesn't want another. That Cup was 7 years ago. If he doesn't have the competitive juices to want another, we don't want him anyway.

Maybe you didn’t understand what I said. I did not say that no player would ever waive their clause for Winnipeg.

Every player who has a limited no trade clause has Winnipeg on their list. That includes players that have a complete no move clause which requires them to waive for a trade to any team, and those who are limited that require them to waive for a certain amount of teams.

I would bet that every player who has a choice of ten teams they could not be traded too without waiving has Winnipeg on that list.

Only Canadian team I’d have on my list would be Toronto…I’d never play for them

55 points is his high and that was in 21-22 season and they are paying him almost 8m, I can see why they might want to move him especially when his trade protection kicks in after next season

Winnipeg was reportedly on Stastny's no-trade list, but was persuaded to waive it (with influence from Wheeler).

On a related note, Friedman is reporting that Reilly Smith has all 7 Canadian teams on his no-trade list and is unlikely to agree to a trade to a Canadian team, FWIW.
