It doesn't. But you can kind of garner that there are for sure 6 teams that are sellers. S.J, Chi, Nash, Sea, Pitt, Buffalo. Montreal, Philly, St. Louis, Anaheim are probably sellers too. Isles don't ask me to predict what Lou is going to do.

Of those teams can you name 5 good players available without trade protection?

I wonder what the value is for the Jets 1st too. If the draft is as weak as people say then next year's 2nd might be worth more than this year's 1st.

For Chevy if he trades his 1st is he comfortable starting the draft in the 90s, that would be his lowest draft position ever as GM?

That said Cody Glass would fit the bottom six depth of the Jets, at positions that don't have a lot of depth (RW, and RHC).

I'd offer Lucius for Glass, because his brother is in the organization and Mc Groarty and him had some chemistry in world juniors. I think Lucius is a lost prospect and maybe needs to shut it down and work on next season. Beyond that a later round pick.

I hope that Chevy keeps his 1st this year unless he gets a good deal with it, at least another year of term.

If they retained 50% of his salary, I'd offer a 4th.
No interest in Glass.

The longer Mason Appleton goes without doing anything impactful the more the team should be looking at someone who can replace him. Not sure Parker Ford is there yet. Then there is the PK which is still not a top 10 PK. All the struggles like last playoff come from the 2nd units, Samberg, De Melo, Lowry are a good start to it. You want to have the PK running on all cylinders going into the playoffs. Ask the Oilers. Who's the players to do that job? Neither Kupari or Appleton factor into the PK much. of late So there's some players in that end of the spectrum that can be looked at.

I’d say our bottom 6C depth is ok..Lowry, Namestnikov, Kupari, Gus…our RW depth could definitely use some improvement though, but I wouldn’t consider it a priority

TBH, I wouldn't trade a 1st for him. Not sure I would trade a 3rd for him. His Jr career and high draft ranking are far behind him. He has been a dud, or 4th liner with 3 different NHL teams now. Do we need that kind of depth?

He has some of the best defensive metrics on metrics on Pittsburgh and is a good PK player. He also has some untapped offensive upside. I definitely think he can provide some upside on the fourth line with the potential to displace Appelton on the Lowry line.

I'd clearly not pay a first for him and I doubt that would be the ask. I'd do either Ville or a mid round pick.

This would make sense for the player if the Jets covet him. Sort of flip diminishing assets and try to get some upside in a change of scenery.

Yup. Atleast in terms of Glass he's successfully reinvented his game into a plus bottom 6 caliber player. It's the type of game that can keep him in the league even if his offense never materializes.

I think he could defensively be an upgrade on Kupari/Gus or possibly even Barron on line 4.

I have no doubt he has positives. I’d say adding him is further down on the list of Jets priorities, behind 2c, depth on def, and even a middle 6/offensive winger.

I truly feel we are all good on bottom 6ers. We currently have one centering our second line.

We've talked a lot here about top 4 RHD upgrades and 2C upgrades, PK upgrades, 3LHD upgrades and bottom 6 winger upgrades. What does Chevy/Jets braintrust think we really need? What do they think would be a need large enough to justify making a big move?

I've not really liked our RHD since we lost Trouba, Buff, Myers. I think of DeMelo as a 2nd or even 3rd pair D who does an adequate job filling in on the 1st pair. How good would he be if he didn't have Morrissey with him?

Pionk has been a bit of an adventure. He has played above his norm this year, both offensively and defensively. Personally I have never believed he was worth his contract or that his offense was enough to make up for his defensive weaknesses. This year being an exception. Like DeMelo, his better play this season might be partially partner dependent.

Miller is OK on 3rd pair but I will be happier when that spot is filled by a rookie on his way up to a higher spot on the depth chart.

But does Jets management see it that way? I suspect that Chevy will just pass on any top 4 RHD who might be available because he doesn't see RHD as a real weakness. He might go for inexpensive depth, either to bump Miller or to provide injury insurance but that's about it on the right side.

On left D I don't think they see any problem at all. If they go for a 3rd pair LHD it will be to upgrade on Heinola/Fleury. If they get a good 3LD it will just push Stanley to the right side.

2C? I don't think Jets see it as a big enough hole to justify pursuing a legit 2C to bump Names. If they go after a C it will again be about injury insurance. Maybe a W/C who can also provide bottom 6 W insurance or bump a bottom 6 W.

Agree - but my post was about my thought that Chevy may not see the same holes that we do, or really any holes. Our performance so far this season would be why he thinks that way.

I'm guessing that he isn't even entering the bidding for B Schenn, ROR or Seth Jones or any other big name. Not because he assumes that trade protection means we don'[t have a chance but because he doesn't think we need them badly enough.

I'm speculating that Jets have a very quiet TD.

Usually I'm indifferent however this year unless it's some unforeseen difference maker, I kind of hope the Jets keep their 1st. Rakell is intriguing, maybe move a 1st for him if they view him as a surefire Center. Other than him I'm not keen on most the name at a 1st+ price tag. Keep it and maybe see what the off season offers for trade acquisitions.

I still don't see his name popping up anywhere, but I would go after Ryan Strome from Anaheim. Barring that, I think Geekie might be a good pickup.

Isn't Texas home for Jones? If I were a betting man, I would put money on him ending up in Dallas. Risto has apparently really picked up his D game but I haven't actually watched him play. I'm a little skeptical but I would at least be willing to keep an open mind if we picked him up - if the cost wasn't too high. Parayko would cost more to get, has a higher AAV and 5 more years term. That makes him a much bigger risk. He also has trade protection that Risto doesn't have.

But if I could have only 1, I would stick with Strome. I suspect that Chevy goes after none of the above though.

Well it seems teams have been scouting Barlow so not surprising if he's actually in play.
