Every team sent their waiver exempt guys who hardly played back to the A during the break.
I'm not talking about during the break I'm talking about before the break when they had a couple of days off and they sent them back to the moose which was mainly a paper move to save money.

I'd put Namestnikov ahead of Perfetti on the wing if playoffs started tomorrow.
I'm starting to think that I am the only fan of Vlad as a 2C this year. Like somehow 2/3 of the way through the season the Jets are #1 in the league with this guy playing center in a top 6 role.

If the playoffs started tomorrow, Jets would be playing the Canucks and I'd be pretty happy with that matchup.

I'm also hoping that Cole Perfetti is going to keep getting better as the year progresses. Seems like the confidence is starting to grow.

This is just me but if i was Chevy i might just stand pat , we are 1st in the NHL and have won 8 games in a row. He is going to add Lowry and Barron to the team right away for absolutely nothing. :naughty: Now if someone gave him a offer he couldn't refuse then have at it but right now this looks like a very good team as is.

Except Dallas and the Avs and Minny will be improving their roster by the trade deadline.

And already have without making up ground.

If Nelson goes to Minnesota does that change anything?

Jets matchups with home ice advantage are Lowry vs. your #1, Scheifele vs. your #2, and Namestnikov vs. your #3/maybe catch your #4 like they did to the Isles. Is there any concern there? Maybe if Granlund drops to #3 center on Stars, but if it is Johnston, Namestnikov has been able to skate with him this year.

The bigger concern for me is Appleton has been lackluster since coming back, and was lackluster in the playoffs. Nino wasn't great but it was a King (perhaps deliberately) who cut him with a skate blade right at the end of the season. So if you get Lowry/Nino positive results with a different winger than Apples I have some confidence in them.

I'd be concerned about trying to match up defensively if those teams make additions to their defense, because there's a lot of uncertainty with the defense, in spite of the success they have had, heading into the playoffs.

I still think Namestnikov and Kupari are the Arniel footprint on this team of being quicker, and that's in the middle of the ice, where most of the Jets attack runs through.

Man I'd really love to get Nikita Zadorov. I know he just signed a 5 year deal with Boston and had a NMC so there's no shot but he's the closest to a Byfuglien this league has.

He's enormous, fiery, somewhat vicious, and has some offensive chops.
Yeah, don’t think they’re interested in trading him so soon after signing him.

Jordan Greenway could be a low cost addition to add size and snarl to the forward group. Someone to set up shop in front of the other team’s goalie.

So comparing Schenn and Namestnikov
Schenn 11 goals and 21 assists for 32 points in 56 games played
Namestnikov 10 goals and 19 assists for 29 points in 52 games played
Schenn making 6.5 million for the next 3 years
Namestnikov making 2 million this year and next
Namestnikov is a very good bargain if you ask me
A good Winnipegger knows a bargain.

Especially when you got our top prospect Brayden Yager coming to Training Camp next year trying to win a spot. On an ELC.

I wouldn't say being a fan is the right word for me but I certainly don't think he is the worst 2C in the league, far from it, but he is also far from the best either. In terms of the central contenders only the Stars have a better 2C in Duchene, the Avs and Mild are running very average 2C's much like Vladdy but they will be looking to upgrade as should we if a better option is available.

That's really what it comes down to, is there a better option, can we get better at this position, does this player fit with our guys, if so then you make the trade, simple as that.

Some smoke around a Seth Jones to Dallas trade. I wouldn't be surprised. Stars could fit most or all of his cap hit if they put Heiskanen on LTIR until the playoffs. They have Benn's contract ending this summer along with a few others, along with a rising cap so they can probably fit his cap hit for the remainder of his contract.

Ceci, Jones and Granlund are some pretty massive downgrades on that roster...

We would be going nuts about Granlund blocking Stankoven and Ceci blocking Kyrou...

I'd like Jones here but I imagine he would have his sites set on an American market if he waves.

This is just further proof that these scorched earth rebuilds aren't necessarily all they are cut out to be. Any good player a crappy team has don't want to stick around to wait them out. The Hawks might actually have trouble filling out a roster around Bedard.

they sent ford/lambert down during days off before the 4 nations break to gain more deadline space, nothing may end up coming from it depending on the market but they sure as hell are looking to make a bigger move then just depth adds

the rumors we got on the jets from the insiders have been that we would be looking hard at nelson if he becomes available or would be going after the best available forward depending if ehlers/lowry work well together

I don't think that will be as big an issue for an O6 franchise like Chicago (their bottom-out rebuild just started 5 years ago), but it seems to be part of the problem in places like Buffalo and Columbus where they've been flailing forever.

They will have it easier then Buffalo but they are still seeing an exodus of solid talent.

Except Dallas and the Avs and Minny will be improving their roster by the trade deadline.

But will they though?

Every year there is at least 1 team that appears to have substantially upgraded by the TD. Then they play the games. Sometimes it works out. Some times it does not. Quite often it does not.
