I wonder how much things are complicated by the fact that Namestnikov has 6 points in his last 4 games, and has been the driver for that line. Is a guy pacing for 45 points, secondary PP time and +18 on the season to date the weakest link on this team?

I still wouldn't be upset if Chevy holds on to his 1st round pick. If it's only rentals on the table, and the rentals that could help have NTCs maybe just go with what has worked, and add depth where it is available.

The way I see it the Jets need defense for the future. The lack of ELC depth on defense, with Salomonsson probably graduating in another year after Miller and Stanley's contracts expire, and Heinola looking like he could moved seems like a definite team need going forward.

There's a lot of bigger d-men available in the 2nd round of the draft, and the Jets would at least be in position to trade down there.
If Pionk leaves it will be even worse, Jets will need immediate help that the draft can't help. I like Vladdy if he can continue to play the way he is playing but if he goes cold for an extended time we are in trouble on the second line.

Well Chevy has an additional 7 games to make a decision on the deadline.

Does anyone know when Lowrybis expected back, that could play a role as well.

Thoughts? If the Jets win 5 of the next 7 do the or should the Jets stand pat. Lowry comes back, Barron maybe after the deadline just might be enough to keep the train going. We have players that we can plug into the lineup and they seem to be a very cohesive group.

I'd be ok with some some depth players that are capable of playing up for injury coverage.

I'm not really keen on adding a marquee piece that may mess up the chemistry of our top 9 or top 4.

That whole line has some concerns about their ability to step up for the playoffs, but I think that's not exclusive to them, there's some players here who have to step up in the playoffs beyond what they have done in the past.

I am relatively confident that Scheifele and Lowry will step up this year. Though I still have my doubts about Appleton.

Every single player needs to step up this year. We've been embarrassed the last two seasons

Are you sure that samberg wont just elevate whoever hes paired with... miller would prob be fine as our 2nd pair

That's the issue because he always goes cold for long stretches, he tricks us with these nice little runs and then drops off a cliff, I still think we need to get that elusive 2C with term but there just doesn't seem to be one available.

With any luck Chevy is targeting someone we haven't even thought of who will fit like a glove.

How do you feel about Cole Perfetti then who has gone 9 games without registering a point as compared to a season long 5 games for Vlad?

It feels great, I love when Cole goes cold, makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside LOL.

I think Chevy will look for any potential upgrade, whether it's at 2C, 3LD or 4RW (or anywhere else in the lineup). We're probably set at starting goalie though lol

If Jets can get 1 shutdown Dmen that would be great. The strength of the Jets when they went to Conference Final was our 2nd and 3rd pairing dmen are above and beyond the other teams.
Except it’s almost written in stone that Stanley is locked in at #5 defenseman. There in lies the problem.

I think when playoff starts, Stanley should line up during opening faceoff like Tkachuk and set the tone ala BUFF :) hit everybody and then fight two guys - - - - but that won't happen :)
Don't think Tkachuk would fight Stanley as you mentioned. Stanley is not an important player in comparison to Tkachuk.

Anyone think any rfa or ufa contracts are locked up and just waiting for announcements after 4 nations?

Jets office is so buttoned down. Which is great from a player and other team perspective. But damn it sucks for our gossiping! lol.

I wouldn't be surprised if Chevy plans to announce some things around the deadline, especially if the org is quiet on the trade front.

You never know what's happening with this stuff when it comes to the Jets, but I think every player is going to be waiting to see what shakes out in terms of the cap and how things go in free agency this summer. Some new high water marks are about to be set.

Besides Corsi, Stanley and Miller are nearly identical statistically.

This is where Olli Maata as an acquisition would make some sense, because he's the only guy who could make either of them a #6/7.

One thing I noticed is the only other minus player on the Jets besides Haydn Fleury is Rasmus Kupari. And that is contrasted by David Gustafsson being +8 now. Since Lowry's injury he's got on the scoreboard, and that might have something to do with Alex Iafallo being more of an offensive catalyst than Mason Appleton.

Which is something to watch when everyone comes back after this tourney.

Why not? At the very least he’s a great digger with a solid D game and fits firmly into the “do no harm” category of player that coaches love, and he’s shown some nice hands of late.

Don’t mind bringing in some strong, cheap depth but do not want to break the team up or slow them down.

Please, Chevy, no more Tofoli.
