I was going to go down that route as well, the idea that it would be the cost to acquire plus not re-signing Pionk over Dobson himself but it didn't seem like people would want to have to think about it amid the Dobson hype.

But agree with you, would rather have Perfetti, Pionk, plus whatever instead of just Dobson.

Like his offense, but have concerns about his skating, pace, and defensive play.
I’d rather have Garland if dealing with Vancouver.

Dobson would cost too much at the deadline, you would have to give up some of our starting players right now and i wouldn't want to mess too much with this lineup that is currently the best in the league. To me you add a player or maybe 2 and don't give up too much of our starting players. Now off season that's different, then i would try and grab a guy like Dobson.

I don't mind the idea of pushing a player down the lineup, but if it's not a big upgrade then it's not worth a hefty price. So it could be worth a lot to upgrade from Namestnikov to Nelson, but not so much to go from Perfetti to Boeser. Last year, the Jets paid a price to get Toffoli, but he turned out to not be a step up from Perfetti.
That's where it's tricky, because statistically Namestnikov was better between Perfetti-Ehlers last year than Monahan. Monahan's production took off with Toffoli which pushed Perfetti right out of the lineup. So, much like 2019, the whole team got shaken up at the deadline.

This year the Jets have less time to integrate anyone in. So if it doesn't work, you're stuck with an acquisition that you need to fit.

I like Nelson, but he seems team USA all the way. I wouldn't be surprised if Guerin capitalizes on that.

I like Laughton because he'd be in the top 4 PK, and you could put him on Lowry's wing, for a secondary center, which is how Arniel coaches in tight situations. Maybe Laughton-Lowry-Ehlers/Appleton.

That's also my reason for Sissons. Two areas of forward improvement should be faceoffs, and PK in my opinion.

Craziest thing I saw yesterday was Vilardi was still in town coaching youth teams (Jets Instagram). I would have bet all my money he and his GF would have been on the first flight to SoCal last Saturday morning. Hope he's enjoying our Feb weather.
He was seen playing air hockey at Rec-Room with a fan on FB post that I saw

I dunno I mean the guy grew up closer to Winnipeg than he did St Paul and maybe with Bucky and KFC on the team and the fact that we are best in the league could convince him. Honestly wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. Still I think someone with term should be the preference, sick and tired of giving away firsts for rentals.

PK sure but our faceoff stats for our centres are great, I don't think anyone besides Vlad and Scheifs are below 50% and even they are hovering close enough.

Yes both Lowry and Kupari have good numbers. Kupari doesn't have great results on the PK though. So I could see another righty in there. You get to playoffs and those defensive zone draws get amplified, you can lose a game on those if your guy gets tossed from the dot, so it's strategic. Late game you'll see Kupari/Scheif, Lowry probably needs a Copp like player if he is the primary defensive zone faceoff guy. Barron could be that guy, but he hasn't been so far.

Should have made him change Fire Chevy to Chevy is great before giving the recipe. :naughty:

No Chili for you!!!

on 32 thoughts friedman pretty much poured cold water on dobson and said it's teams calling seattle on mccann and not them shopping him

Figured as much with Dobson. Doesn't make much sense to deal a young number 1 RD.

Interesting on McCann. So sounds like he's also a no go.

As an aside I thought there would be more trades over the break. Maybe we see more movement next week when most of the players are back from their vacations.

I'm hoping for a how the f*** did Chevy do that moment - a player completely off the radar acquired for a fair price.

I'm warming up to Laughton more and more since you've brought him up.
