Speculation: 2024/25 Trade Rumours, Speculation etc Thread

The problem with getting a winger like Boeser is that it will be at the cost of demoting Perfetti to the 4th line, or even to the press box. So how much increase in value does Boeser add over Perfetti? I'm not sure it would be worth the price.

One option might be if the Jets decide to move Ehlers to get some more trade assets and the Jets think they can re-sign Boeser. Could maybe add a 2C and Boeser, with Ehlers out?

Connor-Scheifele-Vilardi
Perfetti-Nelson-Boeser
Nino-Lowry-Appleton

Would be risky to gamble on this big a change to a team that's humming, including the PP.

The only way it would make sense to me if they actually plan playing fly with Lowry and go with three scoring lines.

KC Scheifele Vilardi
Fly Lowry Boeser
Perfetti Vlad Nino
Iafallo Kupari Appelton

I'm also always skeptical of adding a player with modest production while getting top line and top pp usage (Both of which Brock gets in Vancouver). Perfetti has been the better player this year.

If I’m moving Ehlers, I’m looking at Dobson or Pulock…not Boeser

I’d be ok with picking up Boeser if he’s cheap enough, to check him out before we try to extend him, but he’d have to be cheap enough to make it worthwhile. As mentioned above, he was pretty good in the playoffs last year and we could definitely use that

Ehlers, you haven't heard that nickname of his?
No…have now though…lol

Ok…so new topic…
Jonathan Toews joining the Jets next season.
Rumour is he’s interested and Chevy is interested, just a matter of if he’s in shape and game ready by next season.
Obviously he’d be a bottom 6 C, but does he bump Names and if so, do the Jets let Names go in favour of Toews.

Good idea?
Bad idea?
Wait and see?

If anything it would atleast be good for Jersey and ticket sales.

No clue what he'd be able to give in terms of on ice impact.

Potential. Big center that just turned 24 and was really playing well a couple years ago until he got hurt. Might just need a fresh start.

IF the price was right, he would be worth a shot. That's a big if.

I don't think it's likely either, but there is an outside chance depending on whomever else might be interested if he thinks the Jets have the best chance to win. Slightly difference situations, but similar to Stastny.

I still don't see why Seattle would move him. Maybe if someone gives them a big overpay, but why would anyone do that?

Montreal traded Romanov and a fourth rounder for the Islanders 13th pick overall. They then added a third rounder to the 13th overall for Dach.
So they gave up Romanov and a third and a fourth for Dach.

I always have trouble with the argument of that move will just push someone down the lineup. That is pretty much the idea of TDL moves. If some miracle happened and we landed McDavid, that would push Scheifele to #2 center. Yeah okay. I think at this point while Perfetti might get pushed down the lineup, he has established himself enough he won’t get pushed off it.

Exactly

Boeser isn't an upgrade on Perfetti in that situation

He's an upgrade on whoever gets pushed out of the line up

It all comes down to what kind of lineup Arniel wants to run, and whether or not he's married to having Lowry run a shutdown line with Nino and Apples. If not, he can get very creative running two well balanced lines in his middle six:

Ehlers Lowry Boeser
Nino Names Perfetti

All good points and honestly man, the bolded is what came to mind. And I like Ehlers but I do have to wonder what is on the horizon with him.

I don't mind the idea of pushing a player down the lineup, but if it's not a big upgrade then it's not worth a hefty price. So it could be worth a lot to upgrade from Namestnikov to Nelson, but not so much to go from Perfetti to Boeser. Last year, the Jets paid a price to get Toffoli, but he turned out to not be a step up from Perfetti.
