He's not a guy a team would staple at Centre for sure, but he can play Centre if needed and provide that utility. That's a very nice option to have going into a playoff run. If he's on the wing and then a centre goes down in the middle of the game, he's a guy that can fill in.I see no reason for McCann at all...he’s not a C and we don’t need any middle 6 LWs…hell we don’t need any LWs. Just a waste of assets to acquire and a waste of cap space.
I also don't necessarily look at it as "he's a LW and we don't need any more LW's". Both Ehlers and Nino can play on the right if needed. And we also don't know the long term situation with Ehlers. McCann brings some stability to the middle 6 if Ehlers walks.
The team can keep CSV together, and then you have guys like Ehlers, Names, Perfetti, Nino, Lowry, and say Mcann that you can mix and match in the middle 6, adding more scoring and moving Appleton down to the 4th. We've seen Ehlers, Nino, and Perfetti on both sides.
I like Bjorkstrand as well to add to that middle 6 so depending on cost he would be great too. What I like about adding McCann is he has a little more utility. He can play the wing, he can play centre in a pinch (I have not seen Seattle fans say he is barely adequate there, I've seen them say he's better as a winger which is fine), and he can PK.
If there is a true 2C available on the market, I'd really hope Chevy is in on it, but I'm not seeing it ATM. Nelson possibly, but that's also only a rental.
Cost, like everything is definitely a factor. The 2 1st round picks comment from a random youtuber is too rich. A 1st (ours will be late), and some other adds is reasonable IMO (other non 1sts, non top prospects).
