the Jets are undefeated without Lowry, with nearly ~4.5 GF/gp (believe it's 35GF in the 8 games) including victories over some some hot/v good teams. Names and the 2nd line have been playing real well as of late. It's not like Lowry as 2C was setting the world on fire.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Nelson is resigned by Lou before the TDL. Which means more teams going after fewer players potentially, raising the prices. Getting a deal done early might be a good strategy.

Laughton would be a solid add as he has another year at 3 million after this one. They can use him as a one year stop gap for Yager/Lambert.
I'm guessing a prospect like Rash or Chibrikov would be on the move for him.

Still tough to wrap my head around breaking up the Ehlers Names Perfetti line right now with how well they've been playing lately. Laughton has scored at a slightly higher clip than names over his NHL career, so maybe he's an upgrade there?

to me lowry, names and laughton are kind of a mishmash of 3C level offensive players. don't really see consistent top-6 offense out of them, i think if 3 of them are in your bottom-6 you have a v good bottom-6. the 2nd line has been clicking lately though with names reinserted there since lowry has been out, but just would like to see it over larger stretch of games prior to fully trusting it.

Him and Ehlers have had success together this season in a small sample size
Whether you label him 2C or not, based on his 5v5 icetime over the past few seasons, that's what he is already - and it's likely to continue, whether you get an upgrade or not
Lowry always seems to show up big in the playoffs too, maybe he's the guy who will finally get Ehlers producing in the postseason

That certainly wasn't on my bingo card, along with a .864 SV% for Helle
But historically, you're right. He's been good... his PPG is higher in the playoffs than regular season (including 4G 1A in the 5 games we got bounced the year before)

You took Namestnikov out. Likely at center with his wheels.
He'll be in the playoffs.
Also Lowry is still a defensive matchup line. Best defender from his own zone, top line matchups. Ehlers has to play on the defensive side to get on that line, but it's more minutes, than secondary offensive line. Perfetti won't play on that line. He'll be secondary offense.
I think Laughton comes in at C/LW. Could be with Namestnikov/Perfetti. Or Lowry/Ehlers. Maybe Ehlers/Perfetti. If Namestnikov goes down a line. And somebody more traditional moves onto the checking line.
I think it's between Barron/Appleton and less likely Kupari getting bumped.
Dont particularly like either player. What purpose is adding Laughton other than risking team chemistry?
I'd be leaving the top 9 as is and use Laughton as a 4C that can move up if need be. I think having him there may help Iafallo provide some more depth offense.

Even Laughton at 4C downgrades our speed, our FO% and our corsi versus Kupari or Gus... and he's basically the same size player - so no added 'grit'. Also not good on PK anymore.
Laughton at 2C is basically replacing Names with a slightly less good Names.
Would have been good as a Matt Hendricks pickup - but this team doesn't need that.

As a 4C makes sense to me otherwise I agree about speed concerns by some of the Jets bros above
I’m otherwise ho hum on him, and not too keen on Risto. @Romang67 made some good points why he’d be a poor add
Maybe he goes to leafs and not us, and we wait until closer to deadline? Maybe it costs Chevy a 6th rounder? lol
In what way is Laughton an upgrade on Namestnikov, Kupari or even Gus? He's not going to unlock more offense from Ehlers and Perfetti, so at best he adds a bit more depth. This could actually make the Jets worse if they demote Namestnikov and Gus / Kupari to squeeze Laughton into the top-6.

I think it's the battle level. I think there's another Iafallo like player you can add to the lineup. One who can play center.
I'm not relying on Flyers stats as an indication of his effectiveness. Just because I think Briere doesn't know how to build a successful team. Thought he fumbled last deadline with the Flyers headed to the playoffs.
