I guess my original point was (or should've been) that, aside from Reinhart, who's turned into an elite player since leaving Buffalo, players are who they are even post-Buffalo.

Cozens looks like a *terrible* bet - one good year, poor defensively, grossly overpaid for 5 more years after this one...and a high trade cost to boot? Dear God, no!
Yep. If Scheifele is considered a defensive liability, not sure the game plan would be to put another RHC behind him who is also considered a defensive liability.

I'd rather have Whilee's guy Ryan Mc Leod, because he fills the PK need, and had an impressive showing in the Oilers run last year. And the Jets don't have the assets to go big game hunting.

Ideally I'd love Chibby and Salo with the big club next year. Lambo hasn't been awful but Im higher on nikita

I see Ryan Lindgren has been linked to us according to Friedman.

I still think the Rangers try to move him to find a true top pairing d-man to play with Adam Fox.

I think a bit of down year decreases his value. Where maybe he's moved for a 3rd round pick and potentially Tyrel Bauer, who was teammates with Rempe in Seattle., and from Alberta like him.

I thought the Fleury-Stanley experiment was to see what a skating LD looks like with Stan in the lineup, and maybe the Jets go for the upgrade there, and run Stan/Miller on the right side.

Can't see the trigger being pulled until closer to the deadline, if the Jets want to keep Heinola and Fleury for depth, without being able to expand the roster. Sounds like Barron won't be back until close to the deadline, so there is some room to maneuver there.

If Nathan Beaulieu 2.0 is what the Jets want, then Ryan Lindgren all the way!

Hard no on Lindgren. Fringe NHL defenseman that has rode the coattails of some very good dmen on the Rangers. IMO he would be an ill-advised acquisition at any price, including for free on waivers.
That's pretty funny I'll give you that.

You don't get 43 career playoff games as a top 4 d-man by being a fringe NHLer. That's 1 more than Josh for the record, in 4 less seasons, and 2 more than 32 year old Colin Miller, who is the only Stanley Cup finalist on the roster.

Pretty sure they tried to keep him but I think he had his mind made up.
Yes I know. With the way he's produced this year in CBJ, he would've been great to keep. I don't love 5 years for him, but it is what it is on ufa day and seems like GMs don't really care.

Ryan Lindgren sucks. Ask any Ranger fan. Terrible in his own end, terrible on the PK, generates minimal offense, makes $4.5M this season. Why would we want him? What do you see in him?

Career playoff GP means nothing to me. By that logic we should go after Pat Maroon with 163 GP and three cups then?

He's not a top 4 guy, and maybe he and Fox aren't on the same wavelength anymore. They carried that from the USDP.

Still if you are buying on the cheap that's a guy who could maybe play more effectively in the 12-15 minute role. I have no evidence, but just like when Pionk came here, there was something to work with.

Maroon's story about Selanne giving him his first ride is a beaut. Taught him how to be a good vet. Maroon will get another playoff run, he's earned it.

And yet no FA defenceman will be worth $10 million under the new cap?

What on earth are you talking about
Your post in the Ehlers thread.
Which RD is even worth 10m? Ekblad, pionk? No, no.

Ehlers ain't making 10m either.
My guess is GMs will be falling over themselves come FA time to sign defensement to $10M contracts. By the way, I never said Ehlers will be getting $10M. Have you been taking citing lessons from gojetsgo?

Don't be afraid. He's not a sure thing. If he helps to get a bonified better option, I'm all for it. Trust in Chevy
Agreed, sometimes people get too attached to prospects and assume the will automatically become the best version of that player. GMs have to be much more detached and make moves they think will improve the team long term.

Arniel was just raving about Scheifele's defensive play away from the puck a couple days back. At this point in his career his coach doesn't see his #1 center as a defensive liability.

Here's the list of UFA RHD

Tell me which one you're giving 10M, or who you project will get 10M

Ekblad may be close but I personally don't think so. Other than that would love to hear your rationale on who gets 10m a year here.
