Another game of Brad Lambert being called up but sitting as a healthy scratch. Is this the fifth or sixth straight game of this?

Hopefully he gets the last game before the break on Friday. But I'd be worried that he's going to be a trade chip for Chevy come deadline time.

I'd be v surprised if he was traded. He's their closest shot to a 2C. When he got into the line up it was straight to 2c without any acclimation. Leads me to believe they view him as a top 6er v soon.

Flames have interest in Cozens.
I wonder what the ask is?
From their fans (and Lebrun) it really sounds like the Sabres want a hockey deal. Not sure who that would be on the Flames either. Weegar would be a great get IMO for the Sabres though (not saying the Flames would move him).

For some reason I always thought he played C for the 'Yotes/UTA.

Not 100% but I think he might have played a bit of C for the Yotes at some point. But it seemed like the fans always said he wasn't great there and was better on the wing.

They still have Yager in the pipeline behind him and with Lambo struggling this year maybe they think sell now before his stock drops too far, I dunno just spitballin but makes sense to me.

It is strange they haven't played him, why not call up Toninato to sit in the press box and let Lambo continue playing in the A.

they brought up lambo in case of a top 6 injury and ford for the bottom six

Idk if they view yaeger closer to the nhl than lambert.Names is a UFA this year, Lambo possibly could be 2c to start next season whereas Yaeger is probably ahl.

Moose don't play till the 8th. Perhaps collecting nhl cheques, top 6 injjry/illness :dunno:

Lot of these 2C options are whole lotta meh. Nelson is a pure rental I think. Ryan Strome is a bit more appealing but don't think Anaheim trades unless there's a real good offer with a year left.Idk, none really move the needle for me. With the season Monahan was having, kind of wished we re-signed him lol.

Even the wingers, looks like it's Boeser, Palmieri and a whole lotta meh. If the Jets go this route, Boeser may be a player they look to re-sign given their previous interest in him, Palmieri probably a cheaper rental. If the Bruins sell, maybe Marchand? :dunno:
Pretty sure they tried to keep him but I think he had his mind made up.

Looks like the Jets are doing a pretty good job of keeping bad things from happening in the crease. Not sure we need to double-down on lumbering 3rd pairing defensemen when we already have 3 or so.

Yup the Jets are doing good this year keeping the crease clean which is one of the reasons Helle's numbers are so good ... except when they play against heavy teams.
Two of the 4 goals vs the Caps?
Last years playoffs?
In the playoffs you need toughness especially in the first round but lets see what Chevy does.

But are any of the Oleksiaks out there significantly better at clearing the crease than our current big defenders? And if so, does that skill outweigh whatever other weaknesses they may have (retrievals, exits, gap, skating, etc.)?

Edit: It just seems that these bottom pair guys we're talking about aren't going to move the needle at all. These aren't really upgrades, just lateral moves.

Arniel talked about this specifically prior to camp

At this point, they're doing Lambert a solid just getting him away from the Moose shitshow and letting him collect some NHL cash and skate with/be around the big club with zero expectations or pressure

Pretty sure the Sabres ask for Salomonsson - they have f*** all for RHD

Maybe Lambert? I'm ok moving him if it's for a long term C, especially with Yager two or three years away

Buffalo ruins everything (except Eichel and Reinhart, apparently).

He's having an off season but he is still outscoring Names by a bit ... and widely wanted around here, Cozens - for a lot less money. He is on a 48 pt pace. That is not that bad.

If he is actually available I think he would be worth the risk for a reasonable price. Avs might not want to trade him within the Div. But then, we also might hesitate to send them whatever the return is.

Drouin has been hurt for most of the season... so Mittelstadt hasn't had much for scoring linemates or even a consistent line... he's a playmaker without a shooter

If they are looking to dump him, I'd take a chance - two more years at 5.75 is survivable

Yup. The risk is not that hard to swallow if it goes badly.

I don't think that is something to be worried about.

From us for Cozens? I could see Salo being an ask, but it really sounds like they want someone to play right away (that might be Salo as soon as next year possibly but you never know).

Yes, Mittlestadt is a way better option than Cozens.

Don't be afraid. He's not a sure thing. If he helps to get a bonified better option, I'm all for it. Trust in Chevy

He and Ville are pretty good friends. I thought that Lambo was probably brought up on the road to room with Heinola. And now it's just to practice with the team. Keep him sharp. Because he's the next man up in the top 6.

I'd seriously doubt he's getting traded.

The last Moose game showed how thin the Jets are at draft and develop with only 5 players drafted by the Jets in the lineup (Salomonsson, Lundmark, Bauer, Wagner and Zhilkin). That's with 2 players injured on the Jets and 2 on the Moose. Jets need to keep some ELC talent to develop.

No way i'd give up Salo for Cozens.
Me too. I think our need at RHD is too high. That plus having Lambert, Yager, and Lucius as options as well as a lot of other young wingers, Cozens possibly not being dependable to be a C, and him coming in at over 7M while Salo would be on an ELC....

That being said, I wouldn't say no to Cozens, but it would have to be mostly futures based, and not at a 7M player valuation. Both of which likely doesn't go over well with Sabres fans.

Get him away from the shitty Moose team and show him what winning looks like? 😁

I guess my original point was (or should've been) that, aside from Reinhart, who's turned into an elite player since leaving Buffalo, players are who they are even post-Buffalo.

Cozens looks like a *terrible* bet - one good year, poor defensively, grossly overpaid for 5 more years after this one...and a high trade cost to boot? Dear God, no!

I'd have to think about that, and I'd have to try to be as objective as possible since I think we all have somewhat kind of sentimental attachment to our prospects and players

It would be nice to finally fill the C hole (lol) for the foreseeable future, but man it would be awesome to have a solid RHD for the top 4. Neither are easy to get

I think Cozens probably fits better with the current core's timeline, as Schief and Helle are an injury each away from a potentially accelerated drop off

I dunno. I would hate to do it, but I'm open to the idea of it
