Agree, but feel like we've tried to bite that bullet and paid in 1st-rounders etc several times since the Stats breakthrough trade. Stastny, Hayes, PLD, Monahan, and even even Eakin have come and gone and here we are again. Stats aside that's a lot of draft capital and outgoing talent for the modest playoff success we've had.
Maybe this year they find a Stats-level complement with some term who can bring some value back. But with Ehlers' status up in the air and limited high-end talent in the pipeline, there's risk IMO.
