But why? They already know mo, berg fleury is better.

Well, they really don't know that. They don't know what they have in Heinola. I'm sure the the coaching staff has a better picture of him than we do. But it is still incomplete until they give him a better shot.

And it doesn't matter that Mo, Berg, Fleury is better because they are going to go with Mo, Berg, Stanley. Apparently they think they need his size more than they need a Dman who can keep up with the pace of play.

I don't see Sabres retaining.

I guess it comes down to the value you put on Cozens. Draft day value? 2 years ago NHL production value? Or the last 2 seasons of falling production value? I would want some good scouting reports on him before deciding. I've seen him described as a good 2 way player. If that is accurate it would make up for some missing scoring.

And of course what offers from other teams are you going to have to beat?
A big part of the deal is how much Buffalo would value DeMelo.
They have been in dire need of somebody to play with Dahlin and Power since they drafted them. DeMelo fits that bill.
Dahlin is a Norris trophy defenseman with the right partner.
Also, they can really use some vet second/third liners. Nino fits that bill and is on a pretty good contract.

Yes, but, then they don’t need to give a Heinola a shot, because they already love Stan and nothing will change that. It’s easier to convince myself Stan is good than convince coaches he is not.

Yeah, I don't think they value those 2 guys as highly as you think they do but I can't say that you are wrong.

Right now, we don't have a replacement for DeMelo. And I would hate to lose Nino. He has been a very good addition to the 3rd line. So maybe Buffalo sees that value in him too.

If I'm trading for Cozens I would prefer to use mainly futures. But that is probably not what Buffalo wants.

Nah, they have more than they need.
They need NHL caliber vets.
They have a tendency to overpay their players as well.
Dahlin 11m, Cozens 50m over 7 years (same deal as KFC's), Power's 8.35m is bewildering...Skinner's 9m x 8 is another head-scratcher.

I doubt DeMelo waives his 10 team no trade clause to go to Buffalo, as you'd think they would be close to the top of it. The Jets would also never trade a player of theirs that signed with them as a UFA to stay with the organization. They have way too much loyalty to do something like that.

Fans can discuss it, but probabilities are that no core pieces or any current player on the Jets is getting traded.

Ehlers would be the only potential one, heading toward UFA, with not much likelihood of being re-signed, but it seems unlikely that the Jets coaches believe they are better without him.

Not to mention we can't afford to trade a RHD.
