The additions of Luke Schenn and Brandon Tanev are underwhelming, particularly against the backdrop of Colorado and Dallas acquiring Brock Nelson and Mikko Rantanen. They are also expensive, costing the Jets two second-round picks and a fourth-round pick. They're the kind of players teammates and coaches will appreciate for their grit but not major drivers. In a world where the West is making big additions, the Jets got players they liked but it's clear they've made the smallest gains. So far.

Another desperation move by Chevy. Another cooked player.

Its alright to do nothing Chevy! Jets are giving up draft picks AND getting worse, slower.
Chevys paying high, yes, but that’s the market today…but we are getting grittier which is something we have desperately needed.
We are in all in mode and 2 2nds is nothing if these guys make it harder for teams to play against us in the playoffs.
I’m not a Chevy fan and I’m ok with these moves so….

Now that I’ve been forced to defend Chevy, I feel dirty and need a shower

Edmonton, Dallas and Colorado have gotten significantly better this week. We have not really. Just some depth security.

Price was WAY too high on Nelson, and Rantanen was never happening. And Murat doesn't know shit.

There is nothing wrong at all with bringing in Schenn and Tanev for what they paid. They are, at the very least, a small upgrade to what the Jets already have.

Aside from early/late first round picks, depending on the quality of the draft, it's uncommon for picks to turn in to anything game changing. People complaining about this are the same type who want mediocre players like O'Reilly and have to pay more to acquire them.

The moment Mikko Rantanen steps on the ice for the Stars, he'll set a new NHL record for most points by a guy who played for three teams in one season.

He's at 70, the old record was Thomas Vanek with 68 points for Sabres/Islanders/Habs in 2013-14.

maybe bring ferraro in, a ferraro schenn 3rd pair would be an big upgrade on what we had

Ferraro would be nice and i wonder if maybe Chevy takes a look at Luke's brother Brayden? Could slide into our 2C. He does have term at a pretty big cap hit though.

Colorado state income taxes are only 4.4%, so on $13M you'd pay $572,000 in extra taxes vs. Texas. But if Dallas is only paying you $12M then you're still down $428K.
To be fair, professional hockey players are pretty far down the list of people I expect actually understand how taxes work. Remember when Sean Avery had an article published on the Players' Tribune where he claimed players would get $660,000 from a contract worth $13.2M?
