Recalled/Assigned: 2024 25 Sharks Barracuda Thunder: Cagnoni recalled

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Realized the Sharks had 22 on the roster (in anticipation of possibly activating Vlasic or someone), so they did not need to put Vanacek on IR to make the call up.

(Reminder - holiday roster freeze starts Friday and runs until like 12/27.)

According to the AHL transactions page, Joey Keane has been signed to a contract with the Barracuda. So, he's no longer playing on the tryout that he'd been on all season.

tbh, probably a good move. He's the #7D right now, but we don't really have anyone behind him anymore now that Pulli is gone, apart from Hache.

This is interesting.

AHL transaction wire says Igor Chernyshov has been sent to the Barracuda.
Can you think of any administrative reason why that might be the case?

Saginaw is in a strange position where they sold off Willis at the deadline and did nothing else but name Misa captain. Don't think they're a real OHL playoff threat.

There's more, busy transaction day for the Barracuda:

Gannon Laroque and Mitchell Russell have been called up to the Barracuda from Wichita. Laroque has yet to appear in a game this season for the Thunder and was on IR the whole time, so this is a bit of a surprise.

tbh, no, I can't, though the Laroque recall is making me wonder if I'm missing something. Far as Chernyshov goes, I was under the assumption that when he was ready to play, he'd be OHL-bound, but he never actually went to Saginaw. He's eligible to play in the AHL and could still be sent to junior for the next month or so.

I'll just be looking for him at tonight's Cuda game, as it stands right now.

Maybe they want to give him some games in the AHL to see how he looks up close? He did play a full season in the KHL last season so he knows how to play pro hockey. Or maybe they activated him but he needs some practice time and they want to keep him with the Cuda for now? Maybe some financial incentive? Maybe his agent advised him against going to Saginaw given their circumstances now?

Definitely weird. Hopefully Sheng can get a scoop on this.

Does he count as a foreign contract in the OHL? Maybe Saginaw doesn't have room for him as a non canadian player and with the trade deadline past he now can't go back to the OHL.

You mean does he count as an import? He does, but if they didn't have room for him we surely would have heard about that by now.

Does that mean Chernyshov is going to actually going to play for the Cuda?
Who knows! That's the same article someone else posted on Saturday, I think, that tells us nothing beyond what we already know.

Okay, to be fair, someone knows, I suppose. Mike Grier. Todd Marchant. Clowey, Holy, Fitzy, and more. It's just that no one has bothered to tell us yet!

Yep, I mentioned that Chernyshov was assigned there back on Friday and I don't know any more now than I did then. No sign of him this weekend. He could just as easily be practicing with us before heading down to junior. Unless one of our reporters can get an answer about it, we'll just be in the dark on what the deal is. That's just what it's like when it comes to Barracuda news.

Cuda don't even play again til Saturday the 18th. But, we are thin at forward right now and he is eligible to play with us.
