The league’s own tracking data backs this up. He’s 78th percentile in top speed and 80th percentile in speed bursts over 20mph this season.
Here's how worthless those stats are.
NHL EDGE Puck and Player Tracking Statistics - Skaters

If you can go from being average in those measures to well above average a year later, those measures aren't measuring what you think they are. Ferraro didn't magically get faster in the offseason, nor did the rest of the league's defensemen get slower. He's not Matt Benning or Jan Rutta out there, but he is no way shape or form "extremely fast."

BTW, speaking of Rutta, here's his stats from last season:

If Ferraro is extremely fast, then last year, Rutta was Usain Bolt on skates. Oh that top speed!

So is it going to take an injury or trade to get Mukh back up with the main team? I really want to see him develop up in the NHL at this point but with Pickles returning soon, it looks like it’s going to be delayed even further.

Honestly, Mukh needs to play a lot better in the AHL first.
Yep, with Cagnoni exploding in AHL there seems to be a lot more logjam for NHL spot right now.
Not even mentioning that Sharks have 4 LD's that compete internally already in the big club (Walman, Ferraro, Thrun and Vlasic)
