GDT: 2024-25 season game 82 LA kings vs Calgary Flames @6:30pm 4/17/25 (Makeup game)

angst?!?! um, ok. whatever.

listen, they could have won 100-0 last night.....and the real angst would still be around. not because of the game last night -- nope, it's because they have been one & out for three straight years. Not only that, but getting their arse's handed to them on the PK while being pushed around on the ice like 80 pound wussys by the big bully. It's like they are Danny LaRusso in The Karate Kid -- except Danny actually wins at the end (Kings get bullied and lose).

Until they step up and complete the job, the angst is there regardless of a game 82 result. Also, btw, regardless of games 1-82 for that matter.
Some people feel like you can't be critical of the team when they mail in a performance. No other western playoff bound team lost their season finale. But we had the honor of watching ours get blown out in their own barn.

Hindsight...Blake can't take credit for a franchise best in points.

Why? I want him gone still BUT you can’t credibly give him blame for failure but no credit for success.

Edit: Ignore, I’m talking nonsense…

a little tangential but i remember one of those years...2013 maybe? 2014 possibly?...Sutter was apprehensive because the Kings were 'in' relatively early and as such were a little more relaxed rather than having to kick the door down to get in...and he ended up being right, they came out flat before getting going. I'm sure I could find it if i were at my desk but alas

that's how last night felt, even if unfair because of the situation. Foot off the gas, detail gone.

Why are we still discussing this game? I couldn't possibly care less about the regular season and neither should the Kings.

As far as I'm concerned we can bottle all the praise or criticism into Monday nights game.

It seems the last team to lose their last regular season game but go on to win the cup is the 2022 Avs. Before that it was the 2020 Lightning, if you count the Covid year. And before that it was the 2017 AND 2016 Pens, both years going into the playoffs on losses. The 2015 cup winning Hawks went into the playoffs on a 4 game losing streak. Stopped researching after that.

These are professionals. We should expect no carry over, but I didn't need to do any research to tell you that.

Still doesn't change that the loss last night sucked though.

‘Go on to win the cup’? I’d rather you provide stats on winning round one.

I'm not alleging that the Kings are a cup caliber team, only that the last regular season game is obviously insignificant to what you can accomplish in the post season.

Nucks lost their last regular season game in 2024 and advanced to round 2. Same with the Bruins and the Canes
