GDT: 2024-25 season game 80 LA Kings vs Edmonton Oilers @7:00pm 4/14/25

I think one of the biggest failures of Blake’s team composition is that he never made this team tough. There was realistically no reason why no one got buried. Even watching the post game analysis, acting like Kings are taking the high road when they don’t have anyone man enough to even play that kind of a game. It’s easy to pretend you’re taking the high road when you can’t even play that kind of a game because you have a team made of spineless men.
Jeannot and Edmondson not dressed. Hiller played the 4th line for half the third and Edmonton toed the line. We will be tough enough.

It would make sense for the league to look at upping punishment for incidents occurring in a blowout.

What do you guys think Nurse should get? Anything less than 5 games is a joke.
It's roster management like this in the end of the season where organizations should be held more accountable.

Want to rest your big name players and ice your B team? No problem. But if you start injuring players (especially future opponents), more than the offending player should get punished.

We will see how “tough” they are when Kane is running around game 1. kings haven’t ever answered the bell and I see no precedence to suggest they will this time

You don't have a very good track record with your predictions...let's be honest, bud.

I saw there were like 13 PP's, so did the officiating lose control of the game?
Was the opposite really, officials called absolutely everything from the get go. They knew the game would get out of hand and clearly the parade to the box was how they planned to combat it.

That's not refs controlling the game at all. You hand out 10 minute misconducts to send a message to the teams benches, plus warning the coaches as well.

Kings need to figure out what they’re gonna do and who’s gonna finally be a man and do something about it
Within the game plan you check everybody hard but not go out of your way to do it. Because if you do go out of your way, then you get away from focusing on the game. If Nurse is not suspended, then you hit him harder on the forecheck when he's on the ice!

They didn't though, that was the problem. They'd let a bunch of shit that would escalate things go, then they'd make the wrong calls after retaliation.

I mean they called a metric f***ton of penalties but they weren't effective at their job of defusing, it was raw, gross game management.

I didn't say it worked, that was just clearly their plan.

Honestly, their whole organization should be fined by the league for this. When they sat a healthy McDavid, everyone knew what their game plan was going to be and the Oilers may have accomplished it if Byfield is hurt. Pissed that it took Hiller so long to be all surprised Pikachu and pull Kuemper. I really thought the Oilers would have tried to take him out first.

Yup. Sat some guys that COULD play and called up plugs in their places, said plugs immediately tried to injure people, then Nurse of course.

That's an organizational message that wasn't just 'finish your checks.'

Honestly wonder if nurse getting a light punishment would piss kings players off even more than if he missed the series and causing a switch to go off in the kings where they become the heavy hittters we have been begging them to become.

Ie broad street bullies type play form them

Oilers feed is just hoping to get as many of our guys injured as possible. "On the PP, all you do is shoot bombs to legs for the blueline" or "we dont need this guy in playoffs, if he gets suspended im good with that". Fun team to play against

Really, the broadcasters were encouraging injury's to the Kings on the air?
