In the last 6 weeks, the Kings have beat teams like CHI, NYI, NSH, BOS, NYR, SJS, UTA….to name a few. But of course, THIS is a trap game and the Kings just crater to teams below their level, because that’s the edgy prediction to throw out.

They are noticeably softer as a team since Jeannot is out. With Edmundson out the back end is softer also.
Jeannot and Turcotte getting in on the forecheck allowed Helenius to play more physical also. They gave him more time to line guys up and grind in the offensive zone.
They need Jeannot back for the playoffs.

Definitely. I wouldn't have said that a couple of months ago because he was pretty much useless until he was put on a line with Helenius and Turcotte. If that 4th line isn't ready to go, then I don't like the Kings' chances in the playoffs. Having a 4th line that the coach isn't afraid to put out there is huge, not to mention the momentum they generate with the physical play.

Classic trap game and wasn't expecting a win, oh well on to the next one. At least the Soilers lost to the Ducks so the standings haven't changed. No Doughty and Edmundson leave 2 big holes on D and Burroughs is a f***ing dumpster fire back there.

Doughty def needs to play less - he's been struggling. 3 season ago Dallas played Hintz every other game for quite awhile due to some nagging injury. The thing is, sitting both DD and Edmundson is asking for it.

Yea they both can sit, Doughty was fine up until that EDM game, he got hurt and it showed.

Not one of their better games, but I didn't come away from it feeling the Kings played bad. I thought SEA did a very good job in blocking shots and boxing the Kings out. I guess other teams try to win too, who knew?

(SEA had 30 blocked shots compared to 10 for LAK. Going back to last game, EDM had 12)

Kings now have 18 losses when they are limited to one goal (or less).

They rank 10th at 5-on-5 goals for, but 29th with a 5-on-4 advantage with 27 PP goals, and only have one PP goal with a two-man advantage.

The Kings have more shorthanded goals than goals with a 5-on-3 advantage.

At least the coil lost. The Kings will have the ignominious record of only team to have lost 4 straight series to the same team in the 1st round. That record may last longer than Ovi's.

Having size like Helenius as 4th line center, plus most of the other guys with size is so refreshing. Previous years it was like a mandate everyone was 6 feet or under and got routinely pushed around, especially in the playoffs.

And of course the next game Daccord and SEA give up 7 , including 3 straight pp goals . Utah moved the puck around, and shot it, simple approach. Nobody stood around with their dick's in their hand or waited for them to get in lanes to block shots. SEA only blocked 12 too.
