No its not just one of those games. This is when your coach has you forget all the things that have made you successful this year to sit back and play like you are worse than the other team.
Its how Todd coached in the playoffs. And why before you bet on the Kings to win a series this year be aware that Hiller will coach like this against the Oilers.

He's been playing not to lose since puck drop, said he didn't want the D to be active so we shouldn't expect anything. WTF kind of coaching is that? Sit back, and get run over gameplan. Well it worked great for the Avs.

Yea Im not going to lose sleep over it. Playing Rittich was a sign they were expecting an L. But I just thought they were over this stage and were ready to open up vs the big boys and go for it.
Yea both dmen backing out of the zone so early its impossible to generate any dangerous offensive zone time. Colorado sends guys early for a stretch pass on the breakout so they will get their chances but you can also exploit it.
You see the Kings d backing out of the offensive zone? It took 1 period for Colorado to figure out they are basically given the neutral zone. They did this in New Jersey earlier this year. They lost.

Yep, tell me, how many rushes have been successful through the NZ for Colorado? There were 2 that I can remember off the top of my head, they aren't giving them anything.
Having said that, the Kings are playing with the energy of a 90 year old golf fan, but that's on the players.
