Sorry my mind was scrambled on that one.
it was a while back... i just had it in my mind he was an FA and looked it up and happened to have it right.. forgot about tobias rieder trade, and it reminded me what a useless player he was

God damn that was excruciating

It's so Kings to go out and dominate a good team (lol Shervaughn magically missing and not defending PLD the other night huh) and then go out and shit the bed against a league worst team on a back to back with their backup goalie in and missing their allstar dman

There are two ways to beat the Kings

1. Be edmonton
2. do that
(3. let Hiller coach like it's early 2024-2025)

Preds were trying hard to just not play hockey and pray for a bounce for a LOT of the game, top teams won't be doing that so I'm not worried. Chicago, on the other hand...

I'm just glad I had tickets for the other night and tossed them early on for tonight...Preds on a Saturday at 5pm? That had shitshow written all over it from the start. Just burn the tapes, no one learns anything here, and we go the needed result from a team who was defending the slot like fort knox. Seriously, that reminded me of when the basically AHL Canucks beat the Kings 1-0 on like 13 shots by doing just that...playing to not lose.

I didn't because Toby Reider f***ed up that series

He was so comically bad on that faceoff...still makes me angry

Zero margin for error for either team and he just f***s off and doesn't cover anyone haha, like he was running a go route

So what I am reading here is that are saying that it's time to bring back "Serious Hockey"

Dammit no pics
Here's the joke
lol.

If you were to ask me what I see with this team right now is purely winning by the grace of Kuemper which is a red flag.

1. No goalie is stopping McDavid thats that.
2. Kings are playing some of the worst offense consistently. They go through too many periods where they barely register more than 5 shots. That is very scary. Imagine being so defense oriented against a team like the Oilers that have historically without a doubt been the hot knife to our butter. They are gonna cut this team up and the Kings show no ability to attack.
3. Hope gameplay right now. Byfield has 6 in 6, while awesome, its a rare thing for him and no one should hang their hang exclusively on Byfield and Kuemper. It's scary how unable the Kings are to transition from cute plays and barely attacking to high volume shooting. It just doesnt happen. That is very concerning. Coach has shown no ability to change the attack in-game.

Kings are playing unsustainable hockey and they will be swept in 3 if they decide to play this type of game again. They barely got a point against the Canucks recently while not attacking for the 1st and 2nd period. And they did the same thing today. Only turned it on slightly in the 3rd.

You cant take periods off.

It wasnt the Kings not attacking tonight it was Nashville. They just about stuck 5 guys in their own slot with no desire to break out for a good rush or even have enough speed to forecheck hard with support after a dump in.
Kings were trying to be too cute the first couple periods and set up a perfect play that wasnt there. In the third they decided to take what space they were given at the point and tried to get some shots through.
The Kings were also flat tonight. Much slower and less crisp than theyve been.

QB is getting ice time because Hiller had no choice. This isn’t Hillers doing. It’s Qbs.
Nonsense. It’s always symbiotic. Part of coaching is not giving him the responsibility too early, plus making it ok if he fails (something TMac was horrible with). It’s entirely possible that Hiller could have given him the responsibility sooner, but it may have been too early also. Maybe he was waiting for QB to show him something specific first.. we don’t know. However it’s nonsense to suggest either party will achieve despite the other.

Dude. You are trying too hard to find negatives. You don’t need to, there’s plenty of legit complaints.

Their entire strategy is contingent on Kuemper being a wall and that’s far from realistic.
Yep, the team talk was “don’t worry Darcy has it… in fact call the lines yourself, I’m getting a coffee”.

Blake strangely traded for Kuemper and he played really well for 19 games to finish the season. Kings got badly swept in that 1st round to Vegas, and Quick had absolutely ridiculous numbers in those 4 playoff games. Kings needed offense and Blake acquired another goalie! Vegas would get finished by my Caps in 5 for the Cup Final.
Blake put the ball in Darcy’s court. Arizona wanted him, contacted the Kings, and could sign Darcy for twice as much and to a longer deal then L.A could due to cap restraints. L.A had gotten Kuemper on a bargain basement contract to begin with at $650,000 because of injuries.

After proving he was healthy and playing well in L.A his worth tripled and L.A with Quick still present could not pay a backup 2 mil a year so he was dealt to Arizona to get a shot at being #1 and getting a fair value contract. He went to Arizona and signed a 2 year contract for just under 4 mil the day after the trade. Blake just blew the return in the trade. It was all about acquiring cheap speed.

I was upset as we needed cap space and had both Kuemper and Campbell and thought we could have freed up space by trading Quick. Quick returned the next year and stunk up the joined compounding my frustration. Quick and Fuhr are my favorite goalies of all time but I really though L.A should have traded Quick then due to the cap restraints they had and the two young goalies that would have taken over.

Winning ugly still counts. Just an odd game, 3 post and so many missed shots. I swear as far as I can remember Nashville games are always strange, never an easy win. On to the next one.

On the telecast they said something like Nashville has points in 26 of their last 29 games vs. the Kings (may be off a couple of games in either direction but it was def. in the 20s). It's always a circus of some sort. I'm much more interested in how they play vs. VGK and Washington than Nashville and Vancouver even if there are some things to look at and improve on.

I think you’re just missing the point. I am not of the ilk for giving people credit when it isn’t due. Maybe you are, but not me. There’s many instances where people are put in a corner and do things they wouldn’t normally do because their methods are resulting in critical failure.

Hiller was far too happy to let Kopitars corpse limp around in the 3 on 3 until they had 0 wins and a handful of losses. Do you think it’s possible he put Qb because he wanted to or because he felt the pressure to do so since his tactics weren’t working and the media was asking him about it.

You may throw around praise aimlessly but I like to consider the circumstances when decisions were made.

Not that I disagree

I did think it was interesting that they made all our basically forum dream changes all at once instead of gradually

Seemed like a full staff decision for better or worse

Kings in striking distance of the division

So incoming losing streak to fall to pacific 3 at the Oilers again

Seen this movie before and not going to believe it’s different until it is

I have an educated guess it was Blake. He took a not totally concealed shot at Hiller's lineup decisions during his deadline presser. Maybe it was a group sit down - since its always seemed like there is no clear separation between the different roles in the org.
