1 goal in 2 months for Kopitar. What a guy!

This is the same situation we had back in the day with Ryan Smyth, aging players with tons of miles just really struggle to play well for a full 82 games, especially with the minutes Kopitar has been given much of this season.

People should not be attacking Kopitar for this, nobody defeats father time, blame the terrible decisions made by management/scouting team when it came to finding replacements for Kopitar, either through the draft or from trades they made or didn't make.

Not to attack him but I stand by that signing Kopitar to that two year 7 million dollar deal was unnecessary. If he wanted to win bad enough he could have done what Bergeron did with 1 year deals in the 3-4.5 million range. They would have more money to add a better player right now that could pick up the slack where hes slowing down.

And then Byfield hits free-agency two seasons after that, right as the team will still be in the accumulation stage.

Contracts was Blake's one strength as GM's, but he completely dropped the ball with that one.

I agree, the second year was completely unnecessary, but you can't really blame AK for that. This is like when people blamed Brisson and Turcotte for him wanting to leave college after 1 year, you don't blame the player or his agent, you blame the GM for offering it.

Just emphasing this is stupid this is not baseball, hockey players sweat their bags off...if I was negotiating the next CBA this would be a bone of contention...I wonder how many injuries happen on the second game...does anyone keep stats...besides the product...when selling the game to Americans you have to present hockey in the best light and back 2 back doesn't do that cause most of the games turn into 2-1 bores and snores or blow-outs take your pick...Just saying
