Great win. Glad to see Fiala playing much better.

Very emblematic game for Byfield. Still needs to improve his shot, but he generates so many chances with his hard work.
Yup, those were all hard work points, he struggled in the moments that required soft touches.

Ironically his point totals would probably soar if he gave up trying fancy stuff and just overwhelmed with his speed and reach.

Yeah, I was referencing that reckless rumor. He puts 2+2 together and gets 5. Dylan Cozen was scratched tonight, yet he was silent.
I think Weekes actually posted something about keeping an eye Buffalo yesterday

Poor Moore lol:

Rumor is Calgary is heavy after Cozens. Would love to see what a Byfield Cozens Fiala line could do

Of course I fell asleep and missed the 3rd. I haven't seen them with that much starting jump in quite awhile. Fiala should've shaved that stache much sooner. I had to check the lineups to see if Laine played because he was invisible out there, even on the PP.

I thought the Byfield-Fiala-Laferriere line was electric last night. The speed, skill, and unpredictability of this trio is the perfect combination. When they are on the ice, stuff just happens.

12 minutes, 13 shots on goal, no shots against, +3 goals. Right from puck drop the Canadiens had no idea what was coming.

Please please please, Hiller, keep this line together for at least the next 5 games!

That line is legitimately chaotic. Can’t scout and plan against raw, unfettered lawlessness lol

Doughty had an absolute dreadful game, tried to get cute, just...not good, chalk it up to rust and move on, but being to cute with the puck isn't a rust issue.

Byfield was a monster all game, Fiala was good, minus the two goals, he had a shift were he just controlled the puck and circled the zone, just really good game there, Turcotte played extremely well,

It was a good game overall, something they absolutely have to build on, 2 games left before the break, no reason not to go balls to the wall like they did last night.

It gives a legitimate top 6 instead of whatever the hell we've had the last 10 games or so.

He had a great year last season, but he's quietly back up to his career point per game average. We need him putting more in the back of the net though--we don't have enough scoring as is.

That play in particular, hurt....because he had a wide open net, and he didn't pull enough back on shot, he pushed it and he knew it the second it was released.....keep in mind, those are tricky one timers, as you are backing up, to have to goback the other way so as not to push it wide....but he 100% wanted that one back.

100% - It's actually so huge for the Kings if that 22-55-14 line continues to click and play like they have the last couple games.

That has the potential to be a legit 2nd line for the Kings.

Turcotte - Kopitar - Kempe
Fiala - Byfield - Laferriere
Moore - Danault - Foegele
Jeannot - Lewis/Helenius - Thomas

All of the sudden doesn't look to shabby if 22-55-14 becomes a legit line.

Then imagine you trade Moore ++ to bring in an upgraded scoring winger and things actually start to look pretty damn good. For example, if they sent Moore ++ to the Pens for Rickard Rakell they'd likely be looking at something like this:
Rakell - Kopitar - Kempe
Fiala - Byfield - Laferriere
Turcotte - Danault - Foegele
Jeannot - Helenius - Lewis/Thomas

Rakell already has 24 goals and 46 points on the season - It might seem like an underwhelming add but he'd immediately be the Kings leading scorer (in both goals and points) if he was added today. That added offense would be huge for the Kings top 6. Also allows Turcotte to slot down on the 3rd line where he's probably better suited at this point in his career. And he's signed for a couple more years so he wouldn't just be a rental. $5m cap hit is well worth it if he's able to keep producing like he has this year.

I like the idea of Rakell, can't he play center as well or was that just on the Ducks? Feel like he'd have good chemistry with Kempe. Though I'm not sure if we have the assets to make a trade rn, unless it was a swap of some sort.

My mock trade proposal would be: 2026 1st round pick, Trevor Moore, and a mid-tier prospect like Pinelli or Booth.

Could throw a mid-round conditional pick or something in there if you really needed to. Rakell's a solid player with multiple 30 goal seasons throughout his career. And cost controlled at $5m for the next couple seasons. Could be very worth the price.

I don't think it's a good idea to take a puckhound away from Kopitar/Kempe, especially now with grandpas dead legs. Yeah Rakell is "better" but not a better fit.
You might be right, but I'd certainly think it'd be worth trying. I love Turcotte and I know he's a great complimentary winger for 9 and 11 but ultimately it could be advantageous to have another legit scorer with those guys.
