My guess is its one of Burrows (sic), Englund, Moverare (hopefully not). But seeing how little they value offensive creativity, it is possible its BC.

What a way to torpedo the guy's development... That's exactly what they are going to do aren't they...

Possibly, but Clarke has clearly hit a wall hard. The assist last night was spectacular, but they have been few and far between of late while being a liability in his own zone. Spence has badly outplayed him over the last 6 weeks, even taking his spot on PP#1 over the last little while.

Growth isn't always linear, and if the choice is playing Clarke 25 minutes in Ontario versus 7d or playing on his left side, its not cut and dried in any direction. I am not particularly worried about that given that Anderson and Gavrikov should be broken up, but if they DO keep Gavrikov on the right it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

Yeah, yeah, blah blah blah about Clarke getting screwed like other kids, that's nonsense. Clarke has a looooooong ways to go before he will be counted on to play an important role here, he is realistically a lot closer to Durzi than a Doughty, and he has PLENTY of time to smooth out the really rough, amateurish edges to his defensive zone work. I would much rather see him getting first pairing minutes on the Reign than getting Burroughs-ed for 7 sheltered minutes a night.

Its laughable to worry about Spence losing minutes, a little less so about Moverare. With Doughty back Burroughs is clearly the odd man out as they will most likely want Englund's muscle in case Edmundson goes out.

I don't know about that Blandalorian.
The Kings do have Jeannot, Burroughs can fight and the coaching staff does seem to favor Burroughs. With that being said, trying to make sense of anything the front office does is a fool's endeavor

Oh, someone's hit a wall alright...but it ain't Clarke

Clarke looks tired, but it's because he's carrying around an expensive piano

Never thought I'd see the day when Clarke is defending 2- and 3-on-1s because the slowest dman in the NHL is the first one flying the zone and being unable to get back before the next period

Actually, I disagree. This year has been much different than the previous seasons and it surprises me that more folks haven't caught on.

I know we have our jokes here, and in many ways we expect the same failures and look to see how we can fit things that we question into the boxes built by our disappointments, but this has actually been a very easy year to read.

The right things are being done for the right reasons. Edmundson is a perennial 60 game player. Englund was never likely to play in the same lineup at the same time barring a severe rash of injuries, but its pretty clear that they want some muscle on the back end. Englund was kept to hedge the bet on Edmundson being a full timer.

I don't think that Burroughs was brought in to be a regular, but they wanted a disposable, veteran RHD for camp should Clarke prove himself not ready.

Clarke isn't a right out of the box player, he has some very poor tendencies that will only be ironed out with experience. And part of that experience may very well come from the adversity of sitting out at times if need be. And his physical immaturity could also be a bigger concern for the staff than we know.

Clarke proved himself as a viable option in camp, but the Doughty injury made keeping Burroughs a necessity.

So the camp decision of backing up physicality or backing up the inexperience pn the right side got punted down to January. Moverare is the surprise here, so undoubtedly the Kings best 7d does not include Englund or Burroughs. It makes sense to keep 8, but 9 is ridiculous.

The realistic options are to either give Clarke a breather, or waive either Moverare, Englund or Burroughs. Burroughs is the safest bet to clear, he has been the worst performer, and with Doughty back (and Gavrikov doing well on the right), Burroughs seems most likely to be waived.

So do they want Clarke to get some time in the AHL, or do they want to lose Burroughs? As a fan it an easy choice, but if they really do see Clarke running out of steam maybe it's harder than it looks

Sorry, this is cope. Clarke never looked better than the start of this season, and almost immediately after getting called out by the coach in the media, he started to struggle. Sending him to Ontario would be a huge setback and mistake. He has nothing left to prove there after last season.

I mean it's not just me, right?

Clarke was the only one that's been called out in the media, yet Edmundson and Gavrikov especially have been going on some misadventures. Mikey's been in deep a lot too but haven't noticed him getting pinched off as much. But JE has the uncanny knack for finding the absolute worst spots.

We want our D to jump into the play even though they aren't the right personnel for it, but the one that IS right for it constantly ends up covering the other one and is the only one to face any sort of blowback for it. It's mind boggling bullshit

‘This is cope’? WTF does that mean?

You can always tell it was a good game when the outspoken 'debbie downers' are SILENT the next morning.
Still frozen out. Will be back at full energy levels this weekend after the thaw. It's been a long 3 days of winter.

The playoffs are a war of attrition. It's not that they need x number of points from the defense. It's if they can outscore what they can't shut down. And that's a team effort.
Not with prevent Todd hockey. Have to see if Hiller evolves.

Clarke can play at a higher level. Edmundson, not so much. Gavrikov is a UFA playing off side on top pair. Don't want to criticize him in the media.

No point in criticizing Burroughs. At least he's not on pace for -42 this season. :naughty: It's so much fun though. Maybe he's just young & will improve with age & experience.
