Is Herby secretly Scott Steiner? Do the Kings have a 33 1/3% chance of winning in the playoffs? They are both Michigan fans.

Ha, thanks for the correction. I don’t know which number is off, I was going off game logs and messed up somewhere.

I am still curious what people think is more likely to happen for the Kings to beat Edmonton, they up the offense, or they completely shut down Edmonton defensively.

Not a one or another scenario, if they can't do both, they won't win.....now....that applies to all 32 teams there so there is that.

The best way to get past EDM is to not have to play them - win the division and it at least solves that problem for the first round. Nobody here believes the Kings are going to win the cup this year, but playoff success is imperative in 2025 - the, if you get on a role in the playoffs, anything can happen (we know that scenario quite well). Best way to have that opportunity - don't face EDM in first round.

To be fair, have you ever seen both in the same room?

That's fair. I still wouldn't have Byfield as the first player on my mind of what went wrong last night.

I'm not saying Byfield would get so upset he couldn't function. I'm saying that focusing the things that went wrong, even briefly, is sending a bad message. And while he had some errors, he had some strong plays too. Young players, in my opinion, grow and benefit more when they can feel safer making mistakes.

To me, it's a big reason why Muzzin grew into a top pairing role over Martinez, who took much longer to play into a top-4 (as he was on the bottom-pairing for much longer in LA). Muzzin made more mistakes earlier on, and he could learn from them.

I'm not saying Hiller sucks. But with Byfield having some noticeable confidence issues, I don't like the comment - walked back or not.

It's just two completely sets of standards for players over 25 and players 25 and under....and that's several games in a row now that a kid has been benched and scapegoated in the media while the over-25s can take a steaming pile at center ice without a glance.

Turcotte, Byfield, Laf all getting benched and publicly blasted in an incensed Hiller post-game media scrum while Fiala is out there playing beer league and Edmundson has been possessed by the ghost of Paul Coffey but in the body of Edmundson. To say nothing of Moore going down due to the stiff breeze of players skating by, Burroughs looking for opposing sweaters to pass to while standing still, and Jeannot still skating right now to catch up to someone to hit from yesterday.

A few weeks ago I purchased tickets for the Panthers game tomorrow.

Taking the GF. She's never seen the Kings score more than one goal or even win a game.

At the time of purchase LA was playing well and winning games at home. Go figure they went cold just in time.

I haven't seen LA win a game in person since before covid. They ALWAYS lose boring banal flat games at home when I'm in attendance.
Then what the f*** you doing buying tickets to games???

In second thought, get season seats and we might actually get rid of f***ing BLuc.

“I hope we don’t play these guys” is not much of a strategy.

Hope isn’t a plan. It’s a cop out for a poorly constructed roster.

The Kings have gotten worse and worse each year as the series progressed later on.

Game 5: 1-2
Game 6: 0-2
Game 7: 0-1

Is it better coaching adjustments?
Is it the Kings top players running out of gas?
Is it random/flukey/to small a sample size?

Probably all 3, but I don't know if anyone gives enough credence to random/flukey in a series.....been a helluva lot of series that have swung on random/flukey events.

the only thing I'd be interested in looking at with those series is the special teams % and how they differed from one series to the other.

there ya go, Herbs. Either their PP kept getting better, or our PK kept getting worse.

Which obviously would be addressed by the management & coaching staff at the helm of a team with aspirations of winning something. Right?
Yah because there are just so many attainable options to beat the two best players in the world. You got it all figured out, bud.

How does that affect the kings power play being so bad, that teams feel empowered to take liberties, because they know it’s rarely going to result in a goal against?

Going 0/12 in a series, only to see that issue carry over into the next regular season, is incompetence at best

LA Kings new slogan: if you can’t beat them, avoid them
Alright, I’m gonna have to steal that one.

Easy search, this is what he said "
On elevating Samuel Helenius in the third period
I didn’t like Q’s game, I didn’t like where Q was and I thought Sammy, in his limited time prior to that, was going at least, was one of the, probably few players I thought had some energy, some physicality, some intensity, so I just wanted to reward him a little bit. Well, I shouldn’t single Q out, there were plenty of guys to go along with him. He, like the others, wasn’t on his game. I wanted to bump Sammy up, so where do you where do you put him? It’s easy to slide Q to the wing."

I would have love to known what he didn't like about his game......he seemed flying out there like I said, maybe a bit out of control, at least in the 1st half.....
And that’s why I am not coach. Q was the only one I liked.

Rittich was awful, Fiala on my last nerve and Phil might as well leave his stick on the bench. we run 11-7 for Burroughs? dogcrap

We could put PP1 and PP2 on the ice together and Edmonton would still end up with more power play goals.

I was hoping Jeannot would be the Bogeyman but he is Casper the ghost.

This team has sucked since the return of the prodigal son Lewis and that wimp Moore.

Maybe We should bench Byfield dress 10 and 8 and let Clarke play center.

Coach playing more 5D chess. No wonder Blake likes him.
